          Crap.

My best pitcher has been sidelined all season.

I lost one of my top power hitters for the season.

And now I lose arguably my best starter for the season.

I wonder if these guys can keep it up. That Hartford series was ugly.

I guess Clay is upset because after a disapointing 6-0 sim he gets back to .500 and only 4 games out of the wild card race, which means he is going to have to consider being a buyer and maybe give up something of value in a trade.

              1-5

              Good

              - I really don't see much good for this team for a while.
              - We went from last to 17th in Top Systems. We added Ednams and May via trade and Reyna in the draft.

              Bad

              - Sasaki got hurt...out for 3 weeks
              - Our pitching staff had an ERA of 8.06 for the week
              - Our hitters hit .209 for the week
              - Cam Mills had a nice piece wrote about him last week...goes out and throws 1 inning and allows 6 ER...ERA of 54.00
              - I have 7 players on my team mad
              - Our fan interest dropped to 41 after the big trade

                California Kodiaks (50-32)

                2-1 vs. Davenport

                2-1 @ Windy City

                The Good
                - Joe Toapanta, 2-0 for the week. First Kodiak to 10 wins this year. I never expected to get a pitcher to 10 wins before the break. Crazy.

                - 50 wins before the break! Another thing I never expected!

                The Bad
                - Conan Wilkerson didn't even make it out of the first inning in his start against Windy City. Staked to a 3-0 lead, Wilkerson gave up five runs while only recording two outs. First time for everything I suppose.

                - Joe Negron got touched up a bit this week. Gave up two runs in two appearances.

Next Week: 2 vs. Los Alamos

He lost El Nino in a game against me. Dude was running to first and must've tripped on my 1B foot or something and somehow fractured his fibula. He's out for the season if I'm not mistaken.

OK... I've had a night to sleep on it... losing my best player in the BLB and OSFL on the same night will get to you...

I'm certainly happy with 6-0... back to .500... back in the WC hunt...

Nino is done for the season. This losing your highest paid player for huge chunks of the season is getting very old after the Harcourt incident of '86.

                        The Silver Lining(s)...
                        - Cristian Martinez did step in at 3B and go .318/.360/.455 for the week.

                        - Rookie #8 Overall BA Prospect Yortiki Maeda is slowly finding his groove going .320/.433/.560. Not hitting any bombs yet... but proving to be an EBH Machine... two more 2Bs and two more 3Bs this week. That's 3 triples already on the season in limited action.

                        - Jose Llombart has decided to chip in in the power department in Nino's absense... 3 more long balls this SIM

                        - Magness threw yet another CG win. That's 3 on the season... not a huge number, but Complete Games are not common in Virginia and this bullpen has a lot of innings on it.

                        - Arrendondo went down this week and missed a start... luckily the bullpen chipped in for a win.

                        - Jeff Franklin returned from injury and gave us a solid 8.0 inning performance for a win. Some stability in the #4 spot in the rotation has been sorely missed when he was on the DL.

                        The S***burger(s)...
                        - Nino's done for the season. Obviously hoping there's no long term impact, but you never know.

                        - As much as 41-41 and only 4.0 out of the WC at the All-Star break is something to feel good about in Virginia... I can't help but think that there are too many good teams... and the loss of Nino are too big to overcome.
                        The Great One!

Linty's pitching staff held me to four runs the entire series and all but one of those were in extras. I was lucky all four runs came in the same game or I'd have probably been 0-3. Roger Simonds paid immediate dividends by pitching 3 scoreless innings and picking up the win in his first appearance for Davenport. I think that Linty just ran out of good relievers that game before I did, and he finally had to go with one my guys could hit.

I am not feeling very good about our chances in the Bock or the WC but it is fun to still be in the hunt. If Steve Bing performs reasonably well upon his return from the DL, I won't have any glaring weaknesses but the lack of a real star hurts.

Three at Virginia next week and maybe that squad will be feeling down a bit with the loss of Nino and allow me to steal one in their place. As long as I remain in the hunt, I continue to draw 30K plus, which will help my budget for next season.

I am now wishing that I had signed FA Clint Lance to two years instead of one. After I made the Weatherspoon trade it freed up enough salary space to sign him, but I opted for a one-year deal since I thought I'd be able to extend him if he played well. Wrong. At first he wouldn't deign to listen to an offer, but now he has informed me he is happy in Davenport and wants to stay. All I have to do is pony up $36 mil over two years. Even though Cisneros has started hitting in AAA, I don't think he will be quite ready at the beginning of next season, so I'll probably need to do something at catcher for 1988.

Nah, Bing-de She was actually my last good relief pitcher... and you got to him! That was an exciting game to watch. I think if it had gone much longer... well I'd have been screwed because by that point I'd only have had my spot starters left... and there's a reason they're spot starters!

Good to see Manny is starting to hit for you. The main reason I traded him to you (besides wanting Stewart of course) was the fact that his 4 contact slightly scared me away from seeing him as a top catching prospect. He's got the power bat... so if he hits .250 or better, watch out.

3-3 Sim. 1-2 vs. Windy City, 2-1 vs. Batavia
Not surprised by the results. That is actually exactly how I predicted it in the other thread. Still have the best record in the BLB. Still have a huge lead in the Stout. Can't complain.

                              The Good
-MAP for MVP - After hitting 9/22 with three doubles and two HRs, he raises his season marks to .334/19/75. He has a 43.2 VORP already.
-I don't know how he continues to do it, but SP Joe Zazueto just gets it done. By far my worst rated SP, hell, even RPs included, he is the worst rated. After 8 IP and 2 ER in a win over the Playboys, Zazueto is now 6-1, with a 2.97 ERA, giving up just 37 hits in 60.2 IP.

                              The Bad
-Lost my best MR Chad Williams for six weeks. I have guys who can fill the void but that is my third consecutive sim losing a key player.
-This Dave Robbins project has been a bust. I think his final season numbers will be a .215 AVG, .340 OBP, probably 15-20 HRs, 65-75 RBI. Not what I had in mind.

                              The Ugly
-With SP Romano Gonzalez being lost for the year, I called up Ryan Vest from Triple-A. In his BLB debut he pitched 5.2 scoreless innings in a 0-2 loss to Batavia. Come on guys! Get this kid some support!
