You never know. I didn't have anyone remotely worthy of a vote last season but one of my guys still got one. I'm pretty sure someone just clicked the wrong box by accident.

Gotta love a Rule V pick leading leading the IL SS vote: Keith McCoy has been stellar for me in a year when my team's offense has been less than.

I thought we might hear from you regarding that comment.

You can be thankful that no one in the DL grabbed McCoy before Spot did or you'd be reminded every time you played a series against him. This happened to me with Winchel, whom I lost through inattentiveness to a team in my own division. I was happy to see him move to the DL this season.

I knew as I typed that and then saw that you were online I would be hearing from you.

Like you mention, if I had thought McCoy was a bum and left him unprotected because of that it would be a lot easier to swallow; simply forgetting to add him to the 40-man when I had 8 open spots until it was too late makes it sting, which I'm sure is similar to your Winchel story. I remember wanting to post something before the sim that night to see if I could still move him but I figured I might have a better chance of no one noticing him. Oh well. NIce to see him doing well somewhere I guess.

I'm sure you would rather see him hiting .150.

Meh... O'Hegarty is having a better overall year than McCoy... people are only looking at BA. O'Hegarty is getting walks... scoring runs... stealing bases...

Well, people are also looking at slugging%, OPS, homeruns, RBI, fielding percentage...

O'Hegarty will still make the team, just not as the starter.

To me the main argument for O'Hegarty is that it looks like McCoy has been something of a part-time player with well over 100 less plate appearances than O.

I voted for O'Hegarty. To me the 100+ more plate appearances made him the obvious choice. Sure McCoy has put up nice numbers, but as a part time player.

I voted O'Hegarty for the stolen bases. That's instant offense right there.

Meh... Apples to Apples doesn't work... O'Hegarty's value in the leadoff spot... getting on-base... steals... runs.... as a leadoff hitter makes a few more HRs pretty meaningless. And I think if you think anyone is factoring fielding percentage into their decision than you're grasping at straws.

I also disagree that he makes the team if he's not the starter. He's the best SS in the IL this season (again)... but I'm not sure he beats out some of the gaudy numbers from 1B's and 3B's to get a bench spot.

I did look at the fielding and McCoy's lack of range at short kills a lot of his value. His range factor is only 3.84 and a normal SS should have one at least near 4.5.

He is for sure on the team. "Next 2 non-OF position players." He is the only infielder receiving more than one or two votes. Plus, I'm one of the IL managers, and O'Hegarty is having an All-Star season.
