Shellevis took a circuitous route on his way back to the majors after failing miserably as a resrve OF last season; he was waived by me, claimed by Batavia who soon released him, then signed to a major league deal by Washington, waived by Washington and then reclaimed by me as by then I had room on my roster for him. At least he had a nice spring training and I am hopeful he will perform a little better this season.
One of many BLBers to spend a brief time in DC.

He'll probably post his explanation right next the one by the guy who couldn't forsee any scenario in which the Wings would lose game 7 to the Pens.

I didn't see a scenerio where the Wings would lose Game 7. Didn't say I was going to be right. Certainly haven't said the Penguins didn't deserve to win. But, I didn't see a scenerio where they lost. I think too many "fans" go all Lou Holtz and just assume the worst and hedge their bet in public statements.

        I said what I felt.

Good signing by Carolina and Dallas of Nathan and O'Loughlin. Good depth move for Dallas and I think Nathan slides right into a prime spot for the Tobs and puts them strongly into the conversation in that division.

I offered both of them very similar contracts...they probably figured they wouldn't get much innings in my 7-man rotation.

I hope so. It's quickly looking like my 4/5 starters might be a complete trainwreck so we really needed another starter. I've got the money, so it can't really hurt to sign a one year deal. Now I think we're really good 1-4, and if Castre is ready soon we have the makings of a very strong rotation.

Not sure we'll hit well enough to make it count but we'll see.

I was really surprised to see Nathan last as long as he did and go so cheaply. Is everybody broke? No need in their rotation for such cheese? Just not trying? Maybe everyone else was scared off because his ERA was up a bit last season and figure it was his last decent one.

Looking at the financial report, it looks like a lot of teams are broke. Only Batavia, Sin City and Davenport have projected balances of more than $10 million. And Sin City is already near the luxury tax so things are tight there as well.

If I have a projected balance of over $10 million, why won't the owner approve any offers over about $1.9 million? Do you still input offers for teams that should have money available but the game doesn't permit the offer? There is a guy out there I want but he won't sign for $1.9MM.

                          Pig Tales - Week 2

                          4 - 2: 1 - 2 @ Hartford, 3 - 0 Vs Maine

So much for Krieger and Goderie getting on track Vs Hartford. Although, the weather for Krieger's game was awful (35 and raining). And we lost that game in the bottom of the 12th. Goderie's performance was still sub-par, but it wasn't terrible. Their next starts are against the 4 - 8 Mississippi Storm; so I'm hoping (again) to see some improvement.

                          Heroes
SPs Donato Guardamagni and Gervasio Dealba could very well prove to be the one-two punch I had hoped they would be. We shall see...

2B Isaias Bendana is hitting .267; which is extraordinary for him. He led the team in HRs last season (a whopping 15). If he can do that again and hit .250, I'll be ecstatic.

LF Ken Cahill threw his ample weight around again. He's now hitting .348 and after 12 games he leads the team in Hits (16), XBH (7), RBI (13) and Runs (10). Last season he got off to a TERRIBLY slow start. I'm hopeful that won't be the case this year.

                          Zeroes
My owner. SP Tim Nathan would have looked GREAT in a Javelina uniform. But despite last season's playoff run, generating $9.4M in net profit on top of $18.2M in opening cash, and fan interest of 100; my owner continues to force me to operate on a shoe string budget. So no Tim Nathan soup for me.

1B Vance Miller. I guess he's finished at 35. His production dropped way off last season, and he's off to a crappy start this year. Based on his ratings, he should be more productive. Maybe he just needs a change of scenery.

                          Neroes
We nearly had a 5 - 1 sim. Hartford out-slugged us 9 - 10 for an extra-inning win. My Closer walked in the winning run with 2 outs in the bottom of the 12th.

Wow, guess I didn't get that set up correct. Doh!

Should be a little better now.
