Damn, O'Fallon must have really wanted to go back to Maine. I offered that dude like 27 million over three years.

Golden boy pitcher Stephens takes a huge hit in my scouts eyes. I think I'll put my scouting budget back to where it was.

Pretty happy to have Ponte for $8mm. Hopefully he's an upgrade over O'Loughlin, plus he's making 9mm less.

          Love the Ponte signing.

It looks like I jumped the gun signing McEvoy for above his asking price...thought with all the FA money, SP would have been a battle.

I am really surprised at how little some of these guys got. I'm not sure if some GMs just decided to sit on their money or if there just wasn't enough money to go around, given the size of the FA class.

I'm surprised as well. Having people wait so long in FA to sign players is kind of making our FA compensation rules useless. Might have to rethink them a little bit.

                Ditto.

I probably should have waited to sign McEvoy.

Isn't this good though? Wasn't everyone freaking out over salaries?

I was talking to Whale about this this morning. I seem to recall last couple years, the 1st free agency sim was where the demands dropped 50% etc. but it seems to be much more staggered this year.

I was targeting Ponte since the start of the off season but I certainly wasn't going to give him the $16mm he was asking for in the beginning.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.

Yeah I think the free agency schedule this year has worked much better in the past. Salary demands have dropped more gradually rather than dropping drastically during the long sims we used in the past.

The only concern I have is with FA compensation. Doesn't seem like the system is working quite right when Carolina isn't getting a pick for Ponte.

Does the game designate players as Type A and Type B FAs? I think it used to at least. IRL compensation has nothing to do with how much a FA signs for.

Yeah it would be nice if we could use the Type A and B status instead of salary.
