  • I don't understand fan interest

California currently sits at 36 fan interest.

We are coming off our first ever playoff appearance.

Ever since I've taken over we've finished last every year in attendance.

I do not understand why we do not have a larger fan base.

Teams like Virginia routinely finish either below us, or right at the same record yet their fan interest is at 92.

Teams like Batavia always have great attendance numbers.

What am I doing wrong? If teams that are worse than us constantly fill their stadiums up, shouldn't we as well?

I know California is statisically the worst franchise in the history of the BLB, but come on... What does a guy have to do to get more than 20k out each night at the ballpark?

I'm actually hoping for some semi serious answers as to why my team never seems to have fans that hold any interest... so if anyone has any... I'd love to hear them.

    You need popular players.

Like that guy who was very popular who you traded away for a 10th round pick.

He only made us a 40. Clay gets him and his interest jumps like 9-10 points.

Fan interest is almost entirely based on players you add/remove. Maine is coming off a 114 win season and our fan interest dropped from 92 to 52 because of the players we lost in FA.

Performance during the regular season affects it as well but not nearly as much as player popularity when you add/remove them.

          Just looked it up.

I lost 9 points for trading Vizcarra. Clay gained 16.

I don't understand why my fan interest isn't at the same level Clay's is.

          If I trade/get a guy in a trade, I should lose/gain 16 points, not 9.

That's what seems unfair to me.

I think they should make it 50/50 based on players and performance. Basically what they're saying is that you could go 162-0 and not gain a fan because you don't have popular enough players, which is complete bullshit.

Life is unfair. The sooner you realize this, the better.

I think I get what you're saying, because it's a game and things should pretty much be even since we don't have a way of knowing one way or another how much it will affect our team.

However, real world example. Red Sox trade Manny. Fan interest in Boston, well probably dipped a little with all the pink hats around not knowing anything else beyond Manny and Ortiz. However in LA, there was a huge ratings gain because they're lame and just realized they had a professional team out there. That won't make you feel any better, but it happens.

Adding/Dropping has an impact... as does Resigning current popular players. I got a nice boost adding Nino... then another big one the next sim for locking him up.

I think the amount that it swings the fan interest hinges on Popularity Level, are you adding or subtracing, and I would guess Market Size and Fan Loyalty have an impact as well.

If the Yankees traded Jeter to the Nationals... would the bigger impact be on the Yankees or the Nationals in terms of FAN INTEREST... think of the words.... would more people become interested in the National... or less interested in the Yankees?

I suppose you're right. Just wish there was a way to draw fans to the park by other means than popular players.

All-Stars also raise popularity and in turn Fan Interest.

There's not enough of a difference in fans to make up for the money I lose when I drop prices.

Usually I see a difference in 2,000 fans per night when I drop the ticket prices.

I make more, with higher prices and less fans than I do with lower prices and more fans.

I strongly suggest experimentation in Single Player. You learn a lot about the little things in the game that way.
