      • Anyone still have players in the draft your scout likes?

I pick next and I have an OF in my queue that my scout thinks is 4-6-6-4-3...obviously he is likely wrong...just curious if anyone else still "likes" players available? Besides the OF, my scout has four MRs that are in the 5-4-4, 4-5-4, 4-4-5 range. That's it.

I can't answer this question because everyone at the top of my scout's list wasn't even liked by him. I don't understand the draft in this game.

He didn't give one player I chose a favorable potential rating and every one of them is expected to only dream of having a cup of coffee.

Normally when it gets to this point in the draft, when your scout doesn't like anyone, I draft on things other than batting and pitching ratings.

If your scout didn't like any of the guys you picked, why did you pick them? Not trying to sound like an ass, just asking.

Because I'm sure that something is wrong in how the game is explaining his belief in that player's potential.

                      I gotcha.

I do miss the old days of multiple scouts, so maybe in the next version (not X) we can get a better scouting system.

It's just weird because everyone I picked was at the top of my scouts draft board. Yet, their player profile didn't showcase his reasons.

So, I don't know how to take that. Is the game telling me that they can't show me the scout's true feelings or is the draft board a bug? I don't know. I'll find out.

I spent a lot of money on the draft this year. I'm interested in seeing whether that money helped land me a few more prospects.

                        • I always assumed that the draft list was like a "real life" example of your scouts mock draft, as in, this guy should go here, this guy should go there, etc. etc. But then his take on that players ratings is what he thought of the guy. Therefore I assume that spending more money on the draft as we both did would just affect the scouts view of the player ratings, not the draft list. I am sure I am wrong about this though.

For example, I took Jerry Wilson whom my scout had at 5-4-5. However he was fourth on my scouts draft list. So my interpretation was that Jerry Wilson was seen as a top 5 pick but my scout thought that he wasn't neccessarily going to be that good. I guess it would be like Clay and the Lions. If Stafford was a pitcher in the BLB he would have been #1 on Clay's draft list because that was the consensus around the league, that he was the #1 pick in the draft. However when you look at Clay's scout take on him he would have had him at 5-4-3 or something like that.

I don't know if that made sense and I am sure that I am misinterpreting how the system works but oh well. It feels more realistic to draft that way to me I guess.

                          • I understand and that's what I'm thinking is going on.

You can spend the extra dollars and it doesn't necessarily mean that the scout will see better ratings. He just happens to know that the guy deserves to be drafted. That probably makes it more confusing.

I really think it's the way the game was written. I was supposed to beta test OOTP X's Scouting and got too busy to get involved in the process. I wish I had the time.
