I guess with picks 3, 5, 17 and 21... I can probably kiss my #1 spot on the BA Top System goodbye. Barring a complete failure by his scouts, Davenport should come away pretty healthy.

Wonder if he has enough to parlay into the top 2 picks. I see Two elite players in this draft. Would pick 3 & 21 get you up to #1 overall? Then 5 & 17 get you up #2? With Morgantown and Sin City both needing to stock their farm system, I could certainly see them going for hte extra picks.

Then again... I may be the only one who only sees two elite players.

This is a good year for me to not have my 1st rounder. There's only a handful of guys my scout likes and only 2 or 3 of them are studs.

Anyone that needs bullpen help will really enjoy this draft I do believe.

I think it is too early to tell. The scouting reports on the draft class will be updated in early February and April and I think those later reports are more accurate than this first one. I noticed last season that there were large discrepancies between the first report and later ones.

When does the draft start BTW?

They didn't for me last season. The Top players didn't move at all for me last year.

Interesting, maybe I wasn't paying enough attention, or maybe it was that I spent more in my 1986 budget on amatuer scouting that I did on the 1985 budget and it was the extra money spent that caused the change. The current report must be based on our 1986 scouting budgets/allocation while the April report will use 1987 I guess.

Interesting theory. I'm in the green right now so will be raising my scouting budget. I'll have to test this out.

I don't remember the ratings changing last year either but my scouting budget didn't change.

When do we get to increase the budget?

Another thing that I noticed was that last season most of the top 10 picks made sense in terms of both the draft list that my scout produced and his ratings of those players. But now there is only a little correlation between the list and the ratings. The top pitcher and the top hitter acccording to ratings are in the first round on the list but pretty far down and all of the players in the top 10 or so are career minor leaguers according to my scout's ratings and comments.

                    It is a strange system.

I think we already missed the chance.

I know on my budget, it already has deducted the 1,250,000 out of my budget for my scouting service.

Once pre-season starts, which I think is early February and then you have until spring training begins.

Sweet. Can we get a big announcement for that?

I have a fear I will miss it.

The system assumes that your scouting budget will be the same as last year for now, but you will still get a chance to change it a little later.
