I rarely check game logs so I don't know. I run a hell a lot more than I do here in another league that's no-DH.

It's really not about running with everyone. I just like having at least two guys that can really run the bases. I rather that slower guys don't go all the time. Browning should stop attempting stolen bases. I might have to program that into his profile.

I'm going to pull a Jistic on this one and say I like it where it is (I think). If you make the scouts too accurate then it really will dry up all the talent in the first couple of rounds.

      • Agreed.

As for my haul, I pulled in five guys that cracked my top 20 prospects.

Two even showed up in the Top 100.

#78 - RF Pete Gentry (4th round pick)
        #97 - 2B Cristián Reyes (6th round pick)

Gene Robinson my 1st round pick didn't even show up in my Top 20. I'm not worried though, Curt Race was a nobody when I traded for him, didn't even crack my Top 20 the first year he was with the organization... but my scout loved his ratings... now he's a Top 70 prospect in all of the BLB. I'm assuming the same will happen with Robinson.

        • I got 1 in the top 100, 1B Chamissa who came in at #31.

Four total are top 20 in my system, which isn't good.

I just think that it is better for the health of the league if a team that loses, say 100 games, can be fairly certain that it can chose a potential impact player with their first pick and not have to worry that their scout has a hair up his ass about some guy. I am pretty sure that the way you built your team was by making a series of good picks early in the first round back in the days when the scouts were much more reliable.

Obviously for teams that are good now it is better for the scouting to be crappy.

That's why you don't see me complaining...and trading away 1st round picks..

Yeah, but you are going to get bored pretty soon. Giving the weaker teams a better chance to rebuild will make it more challenging and interesting for you. You'll come around.

                  I agree.

But I can't say I'm bored with winning.

                    Not yet.

There was a Twilight Zone episode about a gangster who had died and thought he had gone to heaven because he kept winning at everything he did. He'd find someone to play pool with him and he'd break and every ball would go in a hole. He soon got bored and wanted to try the "other place".

I thought it was already two, counting this year.

If Robbins starts hitting, it will be two.

I hope you are not counting on that. I expected him to have a good year when I traded him, but I notice that he has dropped off the top-20-hitters list.

                            Is there a plan B?

Yeah, I still think he can turn it around...the top 20 hitters thing isn't as big of a deal as him dropping from I think 2nd best RF to like 8th in a matter of a few weeks.

Plan B if he doesn't start hitting? No. He costs too much to not have in the lineup. Unless he gets hurt. If that happens, I would probably make a trade for a rental type. Like I did with California for Lanbin a few seasons back.

I am not so sure that how much a player costs should have any bearing on whether or not he starts, but I don't suppose I ought to start an argument with the guy with the best record in the league.

Come to think of it maybe that is what is wrong with my team. I need to get Alsina into the lineup. After demanding a trade over insufficient playing time he accepted a demotion to AAA where he is hitting around .090 in limited playing time. His offensive production may be bad, but at least he costs more than any of the starters that I have in there now.
