    NM, I guess 1984 would be considered his first year.

    According to the link Ramirez has exactly 3 years of major league service time so he is now eligible for arbitration. Major league service time is measured in days (on the active roster or DL) and I can never remember how many days equals one year.

    In any case, if Ramirez had had one day less of ML service time, he still would have gotten the minimum in 1987.
