Great sounds good. I guess the point is to just figure out what you expect to make over the season, and how much cash you anticipate having. As long as all your profits and cash cover any expenses, you aren't in the red no matter what the budget is as it's just arbitrary. The only thing is does is make it a pain in the ass to sign people as you need to PM Andrew to make the offers.

My opinion is that it is not arbitrary but that the current-year budget is figured based upon the average revenue for the last three seasons or something like that. I notice that some of the big-market teams have current-year budgets that are greater than prior-year revenue and that, according to my theory, is because they had more revenue in earlier years so their average revenue over recent seasons is higher than prior-year revenue. In your case, of course it is the opposite. The good news is that if this theory is correct, your budgets figures to increase significantly in the coming years.

Another possibility is that your theory that Anderw runs the league to benefit his own team is correct. In this case he has noticed that you have an up and coming team and maybe there is some kind of "owner cheapness setting" in the game and he has set yours to the highest level to slow down a potential competitor.

Media Contract + Last Year's Gate Revenue + Last Year's Merchanding = This Year's Budget

That is not the case for Whale; his budget is more than $10 million less than that formula would give him.

Yeah, about $13m short then. I guess like we said it doesn't really matter what they have for a budget in the long run, but just weird to be that far off.

What number is the cash you can use in trades...starting balance or current balance?

Why do I have almost 20 million in cash, but my projected ending balance is still -3 million. I've got a lower payroll and making more money that last year.

Because CASH isn't factored into BUDGET. BALANCE (I believe) is just looking at EXPENSE vs BUDGET.
