Great job Gyro, down 0-2 after two in our home park didn't look good. You guys bitch slapped Carillo in game 1. It took 'Piglets' one appearance to settle everything down like a true ace AND Longstreet came back from injury in game 3 to right the ship.

I also can't say enough about Manny Alvarez. Our closer position was a mess after trading Simmonds. The trade with Maine was a win/win for both of us. Longstreet was huge, but Alvarez just as big. This kid pitched as good as you can ask. 7 appearances, 6 saves, no runs, a .50 WHIP. Incredible.

To top it off, some questioned our 1 year mega deal signing of Dante Geake. At 38 this was Geake's first and only playoff appearance and he ran with it. 4-0 with a 1.16 ERA and a .81 WHIP. This guy was even better than we thought he'd be and gave our system a year to develop the next generation of starting pitchers. Thank you Dante!

Overall it was one of those years when every move seemed to be the right one. We had a plan, but honestly thought we were 2-3 years out. We'll take it. The ghost of Marv Levy has been exercised. Our future is secure. Even being a smaller market our money situation is very healthy and we have some very good young players in the pipeline.

The whole team will be back next year except for Geake. A healthy Cliff Burgett should help immensely as I thought we were toast when he went down for the season (and we played like it at times). This guys a perennial all star caliber catcher 30 HR/100 RBI guy if he stays healthy.

This ones for Arce, Samarano, Simmonds, McEvoy, Hoover, MacOwl, and the rest that couldn't seal the deal.

We salute the furries and thank everyone for the kind words. And where else but the BLB do we end the season in November?

Nicely done!...Oh windy one.

I was surprised at the number of hits we pulled out of the bat rack. You guys pummeled us a couple of times, but there were 3 close games out of the 6 that were played. It's painful to see the winning runs in games #5 and #6 come the way they did (off a walk; and an error). And it's too bad the Javelina fans couldn't see at least one victory in their park. But obviously the post season was, overall, a very pleasant surprise for us.

Javelina Team MVP for 1986: SP Donato Guardamagni. Now that the monkey is off the Windy City GM's back, maybe Donato will get a reprieve from carrying the entire Los Lunas Offense.

PS - I hope the $7.6M donation we just made ("excess cash") went to a worthwhile charity! It sure would've looked nice on a contract for a 1B that can hit .250 (or an SP with an ERA of 4.00).
