Seeing as this is the first time we've experienced these days in October after the regular season, apparently known around here as the "Playoffs", I just thought we'd post who we're throwing out there for the series in the terms of starting pitching:
Game 1:
Chuck Lindsey (6-1, 2.48, 66K) - The rising star from AAA came in after Jack Curry's season ender and put up great numbers in just 11 starts and gets the surprising nod over Mapalo. Why? He has decent numbers on the road vs Mapalo (3.62 v 3.47), but his home numbers are great (4-0, 1.27), while Mapalo is pitching at a 4.10 clip at home. Essentially, I want him home Game 5 over Mapalo.
Game 2:
Anselmo Mapalo (12-12, 3.77, 199K) - Always the ace of Hartford, Mapalo improved on last years numbers in the ERA department, and walked away with another 10+ win season. He will pitch both games on the road if it gets to 6 which takes the pressure of the youngsters.
Game 3:
Elijah Combs (13-8, 3.98, 109K) - Another solid young contributor, Combs keeps opponents batting just .237, but does give up a lot of walks (90). Just as good on the road as at home.
Game 4:
Jeff Flynn (10-10, 4.37, 123K) - Flynn gets the nod over Recalde for the #4 slot. He's just been a better pitcher at home than Recalde, and gives up a lot less HR's.
Miguel Recalde (11-12, 4.27, 120K) will move to the bullpen and be long relief if a game gets out of hand. I don't mind my bullpen getting involved in these games as they have been one of the best all year. Really need to be at least 1-1 going home or there might be trouble...
