We're done for. 1.79 staff ERA all week, we win 2 games. Poor LA Ramirez. .56 era, 16 innings, 16 K's, .56 whip....0-1. There's not one player hitting. We get our starting 2b back this week, but it won't matter.

If my bullpen had anything in it at all I'd be above .500

The DL races are all but wrapped up at this point. The IL, on the other hand, is going to be crazy. In the Porter, the last place team still has an outside chance of making noise. The IL Wild Card race will come down to the wire.

It's gonna be a crazy last month.

              Uuuugh!

1 - 5 Week. (0 - 3 Vs Hartford, 1 - 2 Vs Pitt). 10 - 17 For the month of August. We are tanking just in time for the pennant race. Nice.

I lost the 2nd game to Hartford in one bad, early inning. I lost the 3rd game when my "Closer" Carl Bell blew ANOTHER save in the 9th WITH A 3 RUN LEAD, 2 OUTS AND NOBODY ON!!! In his last 6 outings he has 3 Saves and 3 Blown Saves. I hate to make this kind of move this late in the season, but RP Gary Closson may be taking over as closer. Bell won't be happy; but at least I have him signed for the next 3 seasons.

SP Ron MacLagan got shelled again. I just don't know what to do about him. If I can find a suitable replacement for the starting rotation, he'll probably end up in the bullpen next season.

Infielder John "Balsa Wood"/"Paper Mache"/"Brittle Bones"/"Body Bag" Brenton goes down with an SEI. I'm shocked. Don't know what I was thinking signing his frail ass for the '87 season. I need him to retire in the off-season.

The only bright spot of the sim...Youngster Lanny Krieger pitches a complete game, 3-hit shutout against the Millers.

Swept the furry pigs, and took 2 of 3 from the Clowns for a 5-1 week, and extended the WC lead to 8 games. Whalers finished the month of August at 21-6. The youngster Chuck Lindsay has come in from AAA and started 4-1 with a 2.88 ERA and 31 K's. Ed Andrew, who started slow, is hitting .373 with 7HR and 23RBI in August. Can't be too upset with all of that.

6-0...WTF? Swept Washington, swept Windy City.

An 18-9 August has us pushing once again. Why do we only play well late in the season? My pitching is absolutely on fire...and Stephens is still hurt.

You owe me $0.99 for using my line... and $99 for sweeping Philly.

A nice 4-2 sim including a sweep of the dinos. Rookie Ron O'Fallon is now posting an .881 OPS with 16 HRs. I was hoping he would be a decent contributer this year, not expecting him to bat .300 w/ 20hrs or so by the time this season is over.

35 year old Pedro Eires hit another two home runs this week, 5 over the last two weeks putting him at 295 career home runs, only 5 away from being the first BLB player to reach that milestone.

Wow. The cream is rising to the top, eh?

0-6 this week, 2-10 vs. the DL. Is 11 games out of the WC too much at this point?

1-5 sim. My team is starting to struggle. Just been .500 for awhile. My team has definitely peaked. The day-to-day injuries are starting to pile up. Hopefully we can hold the ship together this last month to win the division.

Really need to bounce back this week when I'm hosting Stout rivals Wilmington and Virginia.

The next two weeks will make or break us. We went 5-1 this past week, the next two weeks gives us 3 vs. Bat, 4 @ Philly, 2 @ BAT, 2 vs. Cali. I can't wait to see how this turns out. Looks like I'm going to really have to look into bringing some bats up for September.
