  • Press Release: Virginia Colonials - August 1986

It is with a heavy heart that the Virginia Colonials announce today that we have decided to cease all contract discussions with Wilton Harcourt that would have brought him back to the Colonials in 1987. Wil and the team have decided it is in everyone's best interest that he return to his home in Ohio to complete his rehabilitation of his injured hand. We wish Wilton all the success in the world and on a continued glorious career. We hope that someday when his bronze plaque is hanging in the BLB Hall of Fame, it will be with a 'V' proudly on his cap. We have no doubt that he has many, many years of great baseball left in him. We know that he will be a prize in Free Agency this year and hope his new home appreciates him as much as we did and do.

    Good Luck, Wil.

The Colonials have no comment on comments made by that team in California which shall remain fan-less.

This is one trade I'm glad I never pulled the trigger on. I, from personal experience, can say that Virginia never produces anything good.

I don't blame this on Virginia... I blame the fact that he's from Ohio... which... as everyone knows... is hell on Earth with the combined IQ of a salad bar.

            ***

And for the record... he still rates as the #1 current rated player in my ORG by my scouts....

            ... or does he????

Maybe it's an elaborate scheme to get you all to pass on him in FA so I can sign him for a fraction of the cost in ST sim 1????

            Oh.... OH... the possibilities....

HEY! We had 24,000 at the park the other night! That's like 1000% more than we had last year at this time.

You attendence is weird. You're actually winning... and you're averaging almost 5,000 less than last season. I'm actually worse than last year... and I've selling out almost every night. California baseball.

He wants $31.0 plus incentives... so... hit the piggybank.

                    ...or does he?

Don't Linty and Clay have a bet for who would have a .500 season first?

I don't think we have an actual bet... and I also think the discussion has always been playoffs.

But, I would be quick to point out... I was over .500 at this point the season last year. Things change quickly in September.

                          They definitely do.

                          California might even be better.

Very possible. If they stay healthy, they're much better than the team I went into September with because I was hurt.
