God damn these torn labrums! Our title chances took a huge hit. Burgett out for the year. Not good.

5-1 sim, but we got problems. Maybe time to bring up the kid.

      4-2 sim.

Had a 16-10 June. Might be the best month in Kodiak history.

1-5.... one more win than I expected... I still refuse to boo hoo about the Harcourt injury... but this team would likely be a lot more consistant with him in the lineup.

Got beatup by two really good teams... so I'm not losing any sleep. At least we hit Geake harder than just about anyone else has this season.

BTW - Watch out for Wilmington... I think the surge is starting.

            4-2 sim.

            The Good:
Esser is happy to be in Baltimore. He posted a 2.57 ERA, in a 7 inning no decision that we should have won. We lost that one in 12 innings against Los Alamos, with a rare blown save by Hanrahan. We had our first winning month this year and getting better as the season progresses. A couple of bats woke up this month too as Starr is fighting for his starting catcher position and Curt Boyd(SS) has also come on strong. I'm looking to make one more move for the push for the division crown.

            The Bad:
Too many of our top prospects have gotten hurt this year:
            O'Finegan(2B/A)-5 weeks
            Bohollo(CF/AA)-fractured foot, 1 week left
            Saxton(CF/AA)-fractured elbow, SEI
            Lopez(SP/ML)-arthritic elbow, SEI
            Clifford(MR/AAA)-1 week
            McFarland(MR/AAA)-shoulder tendenitis, SEI

and these are just the ones that have potential. There are others that are borderline that also have SEI.

            The UGLY:

We are last(or next to last) in the IL in a lot of catagories:
-AVG, OBP, OB+SLG, RUNS, HITS, SO, Bullpen ERA, Hits Allowed, OPP AVG, HR Allowed

Half-Full Glasses: There no where to go but up.

            - Porter Champs: '92, '93, '97, '98, '01, '03, '06, '08, '12
            - Playoffs: '92, '93, '97, '98, '99, '01, '03, '06, '08, '12, '13, '14, '15, '16

.500 weeks are doing us quite alright for now, still hanging onto the WC lead, and actually gaining a game on the 'Cuse this week. Maine is again too powerful and should start running away with the division. Now that Albors is back, and Donegan isn't hurt yet again, looking for a few more 4-2, 5-1 weeks. Lindsay still wants to move up from AAA by putting up great numbers, but no one in the starting rotation wants to give up their spot.

Back to back 1-5 sims, hello bottom of the division. We just got Melanson and Mun back so I was looking forward to this past sim to see what we could do. Well, we sucked it up!

Apparently I have upset the sim gods going by the last 2 BLB and last 6 OSFL sims. Who/What do I need to sacrifice to get back in good standing? :)

                      Around The Horn - June 30, 1986

Windy City - Finally zapped by the great OOTP equalizer...An injury to a key player. You knew it was coming. Has anyone ever analyzed the rate of injury for winning teams Vs losing teams? I'll bet you a bag of doughnuts there's something going on there.

This Little Piggy Went To Batavia And Shut Out The Muckdogs
Dunmore "Piglet" Theodore continues to kick ass and take names. The Javelinas have decided to pay him homage by retiring his number.

                      Los Lunas
Recent advances in adult stem cell research made it possible to bring LF Ken Cahill out of his coma. As a result, he earned DL Player of the Week honors going 12/23 with 1 HR and 8 RBIs. The next medical miracle needs to be performed on 1B Vance Miller.

OF Chad Petty recently stepped into the starting CF position and hasn't looked back. (Well, maybe he did once or twice just to give Gary Lippincott the finger.) He's hitting .312 in 96 AB over 30 games. Although I don't expect him to be the starting CF next season, he could very well end up being the Furry Pigs' #4 OF and/or DH for some time.

                      The Week In Review
After a disappointing 1 - 2 series against Denver, the Javelinas bounced back with a 3-game sweep of the Millers. For whatever reason, Los Lunas has had Pittsburgh's number the last two seasons. (Last season's playoff series is still played on a continuous loop at all the concession stands in Javelinas Stadium.) We are 6 - 0 against them this year.

SP Donato Guardamagni will soon be having his name legally changed to include the middle initial "K". While Donato insists he has not set any statistical goals for himself, Los Lunas fans have officially begun the "count-up" to 300.

Got Syracuse and Pittsburgh before the break, would love a 3-3 sim at least this sim. The team is pseudo healthy. Leonard isn't getting any run support in AA but has 36 Ks in 27 innings with a 1.02 WHIP. Dodson's ratings got a decent bump and he's hitting .398 in June. He's starting to heat up.

Great stuff. We've had two key injuries now. The good news is that Ramirez will be back in 3 weeks. We'll miss Burgett's power for sure. But we will soldier on.
