  • SIM COMPLETE - 1986 - Regular Season 9 and Amateur Draft

    next sim: Wednesday.

We'll be simming on Wednesday/Friday this week instead of Tuesday/Thursday.

Please try to start cleaning out your minor leagues. A couple teams have been getting errors because they're over the 30 player limit. I'm expecting every team to be at the 25 + injured players limit by Sunday's sim.

    HTML is coming soon.

2-5 sim and now we're in third place, six out. Didnt expect this at all.

3-4, i'll take it with 2 of my top pitchers out, one for a long time. In other news, Pedro Eires is now 19 hrs away from 300, which would be a BLB first. Sergio Lumar is not far behind with 269.

Second place? What the heck is going on? I'm two games south of .500, which hasn't happened in the history of this league. The team will come back to Earth soon, but its nice to see. I still need a thumper in the lineup badly to make a real run. I'm happy with the pitching though now.

2-5 but my two wins are the two kids I just called up.

          Sasaki goes 7.1 with 1 run allowed, 6 K's and 1 BB.
          Bayers pitches in 4 games, 3.2 innings, 0 runs, 5 K's, 0 BB.

Ugly week. 2-5, losing all 4 to Pitt and Maine. Also lost Albors for 2-3 weeks. Hope we didn't blow our load too early!

                Around the Horn
Windy City - SP Dunmore "Piglet" Theodore...This little piggy's kicking ass! And obviously with that nickname, he should be on the Javelinas roster.
Mississippi - If my players find out about the contracts Munce and Cossa received, they're gonna' beat my cheap ass! Judging by the way the Storm are climbing the division ladder, it would appear there is a method to the "madness".
Hyundai - Why do I get the feeling the Dinos' are trying to lull my team to sleep, just so they can crush my dreams of making the playoffs come September?

                That'll do Pig...But Just Barely
The Javelinas go 4 - 3 against 3 division rivals, and manage to hang on to 1st place in the Lager Division. We split two-game sets with Hyundai and Mississippi; and then took the first two against Sin City before my "Closer" blew the sweep in the bottom of the 10th in the final game of the series.

Thank the baseball gods that Sephton, Iazarry, and Harbison have shown up this season, because Cahill and Miller are swingin' the bat like girly-men. It looks like Andradez has finally come out of his coma (). If I can raise my team batting average another 12 points; I'll feel like a legitimate contender. Of course as soon as we start hitting the ball our pitching will probably go into the crapper!

                Hey Ma!...Look What I Found?
Utility infielder and professional bench warmer Ed Ferguson goes 2 for 2 with 2 HRs and 7 RBIs against the Dinos. But that's not the weird part...My "Manager" pinch hits for him in the bottom of the 7th with a 10 - 1 lead. He must have been tired from running around the bases.

                Oh Those Bases On Balls!
In our 3 - 1 loss to the Storm, two of the runners that scored got on base via the free pass. Closer Carl Bell's generosity resulted in a blown save and loss to the Gamblers in extra innings.

Good stuff gyrodork. I threw out offers for about 2 million per year less than both those guys wanted. I like both of the guys a lot and I didn't have any internal replacements at those positions unfortunately so my hands were tied.

Its too bad Balloun went down, though he wasn't doing anything. I don't have enough cash to afford a big bat.

Another 4-3 week for my team. We're pretty consistent, always around .500 every week. I'm encouraged that we scored 49 runs, that's far and away our best offensive week of the year I believe. I'd been very disappointed in our production so far. Outside of Cabezas our bullpen is shaky so far, as even Rogers is struggling.

Joe Ponte has now pitched 2 shutouts this season after not having one since 1980. Doing well in his contract year.

We even managed to beat Windy City.

We went 4-3 against all 3 division rivals this week. Split two with WC and Davenport and took 2 or 3 from Carolina.

Little disappointing that our rotation has pooped the bed so far, but we are playing well enough right now. I can only hope for a better 2nd half out of my starters.

                        Semi-Milestone this SIM...

On 6/6/86 against Wilmington, Frank Hamlet hit HR #149 & 150 in his career.

Hamlet has been a really solid contributor this season and has really helped pick up a little slack in Harcourt's absence.
