Windy City's starters are just mowin' people down. Crazy. Thank goodness their 'pen is at least somewhat pedestrian or they'd be untouchable (not far from it now). Get 'em into x-tra innings or in a 1-run game and they're somewhat human.... but otherwise... you're sunk.

Yeah, and Dani Alvarez is stupid... How good would that guy look on Dallas OR Davenport right now??? Lot of talent changed hands in both of the deals he was in... but I think when the dust settles... he's still the best piece.

I targeted one guy in FA this off-season. A wishlist of 1. Frank Esser. Damn, that guy is pitching really, really well. The one that got away. The Great One!

Virginia Colonials (20-18)
3-0 vs Baltimore
1-2 @ Carolina
Move to 10-4 at HOME on the season with the Sweep of Baltimore. That's 6-0 on the season against the Bulldogs. Two one run games and one SHOCKINGLY solid outing from Mike Hinchy seal the sweep. Being able to roll out two left-handed starters against that nearly all RH B'more lineup in our park that punishes righthanded power really helped.
My favorite part of this series was that my reasoning behind bringing up former high pick turn bust-o Yan van den Adel up for Jose Llombart actually bore fruit. Yan the Man SUCKS!!! Total bust! But dude can RUN! So, I thought it was worth the two week gamble for D and pinch running. So... in one of the two tight ones with Baltimore... it plays out like this:
5-5 game in the 8th against B'more:
LHB C. Martínez -- Strikes out looking
RHB F. Hamlet -- SINGLE (Groundball, 56D)
Pinch Runner at 1st Y. van den Adel
Batting: RHB J. Poling 0-0: Ball
1-0: Called Strike
Y. van den Adel steals 2nd base
1-1: Intentional Walk
RHB D. Nelson 0-0: Ball
Y. van den Adel steals 3rd base
J. Poling to second
1-0: Intentional Walk
RHB T. von Wenckstern 0-0: Foul Ball, location: 2F
0-1: Ball
1-1: Called Strike
1-2: Ball
2-2: Foul Ball, location: 2F
2-2: Foul Ball, location: 2F
2-2: Fielders Choice at 2nd, 6-4 (Groundball, 6)
Y. van den Adel scores
J. Poling to third
We end up winning 6-5. So van den Adel steals two bags... each swipe forces an IBB... he then scores the winner. Can't complain!
In Carolina, Parongao and Ponte take me to the woodshead in Games 1 and 2. I scatter 8 hits in two games and get easily handled.... Game 3 I finally break the seal on a 1st inning HR from Frank Hamlet... kicking off a battle that saw them score 2 in the Bottom of the 9th to tie it... before Hamlet scored the winning run in the 10th on an Alberto Hernando single.
4-2 and a tie atop the Stout with Washington. Crazy ass division!!The Great One!

You guys had to steal at least 9 bags in the series. We couldn't catch anyone that series.
