I wouldn't read much into it. No way, no how his bats stay that cold for long. His lineup is full of studs... no way they stay cool.

In a division that was separated by just three games last year, getting a 4-2 to 1-5 head start is very encouraging.

I misunderstood encouraging... I thought of it like "encouraged that Wilmington will not be good"... you meant it more like "fortunate."

        Understood.

Oh, don't get me wrong. Wilmington will be good. I'm sure the Stout will come down to the final week again.

            Only in Baltimore:

Where you can have a player of the week, who goes yard 4 times, bat over .550 and still go 1-5.

4 - 2 to start the '86 campaign. Swept 3 from 'Cuse and then whimped-out against that bunch of clowns in Indy. I had my Ace on the mound for the rubber match and we could only muster 2 runs on 6 hits. Woulda-coulda-shoulda been 5 - 1.

                Heros
Other than my mop-up guy, no one in my bullpen gave up a run in 10 IP.
                FA acquisition John Harbison - DH goes 10/23 (.435) with 1 2B and 1 3B (.565 SLG), 5 RBI.
FA acquisition John Brenton - SS manages to avoid poking his own eye out and goes 10/23 (.368) with 2 2B.

                Zeros
3B Andradez, LF Cahill and 1B Miller (#2, 3 and 4 hitters, respectively) combine for 9/71 (.127) at the plate. You're killing me.
#4 SP Andres Letonan pitches 0.2 IP and gives up 7 ER on 4H and 4BB (0 XBH).

                Neros
We nearly made it 4 games before our first injury.

                Queryos
Why in the name of all that's Holy is my catcher trying to steal a base?

I know, but it still hurts to see that kind of start for us. Plus even if I did have him 3-6, our pitching has started out so terribly, I doubt if it would've mattered.

Do players often make the jump from AA to the big? I've got a guy that my scout (by ratings) thinks should be a beast in the majors, according to my scout.

Often? No. But people have done it in the past.

I usually try to give a player, who I think could make the jump, at least a few weeks in Triple-A.

Yeah, I'd move him to AAA and see how he does before moving him up to the Show.

To be fair, and it pains me to be positive about the Wildfire, you lost 4 really tight games (3 1-run and 1 by 2). Really only got handled in the last two with Davenport.
