Yeah. Contract wise you won't need to pay them and their clock doesn't start. They need to be on the 40-man because there is no way to have non rostser invitees so they need to be somewhere.

I believe I'll be pulling my Top 4 SP's out of the Rotation for the 2nd ST sim. I'll be pissed if the AI pitches them anyway. May have to force their pitch counts down to 0 just to protect myself. It's going to be a rough enough season, don't need anything like that.

Quiet first half of ST all in all for Virginia. Jose Llombart had the hot bat hitting 4 bombs. Mostly quiet other wise. Best sign in the bullpen was a nice first half for Errol Blue. Felt like I stole that kid in the Rule 5 a few years back, but he's never performed up to his ratings. I'm hoping this is his breakout.

Not a ton of battles left. A few backend bullpen spots. Signed Matt Partin as my b/u Catcher... who might steal some starts against lefties. Brought in Matt Hinchey as well to compete for the #5 Starter spot. Don't love Hinchey, but he gave us a boost in Fan Interest and I really wanted another left-handed starter. He'll likely be my #4 until Oyos comes back in May.

Once again, I'd like to reiterate my comment from last year "No team with Mike Hincy in their rotation will win the BLB Championship." Since Virginia will not be winning the BLB Championship this year, the prophecy has already fulfilled itself.

I would post that in his locker, but we haven't decided if we're giving him one yet.

wow. Talk about a bittersweet sim.

            Sweet: 10-2 start to ST.
Bitter: Lose Raul Zamora for 8 weeks.

Sweet: We have a "capable" backup for Zamora in Roger Willis.
Bitter: Roger Willis is out for 7 weeks.

Sweet: Tian signs for two years.
Bitter: All the bums I thought Tian would be better than for the 4/5 spot pitched great... Asencio, Deer, and Ghaniy... even Miyamoto... are all making solid cases for the 5 spot. Stevens-Middlebrooks-O'Rogan go 1-2-3... Tian at 4... after that... it's a 5 way race for #5 and long relief spots. Didn't really expect to get all these guys. If you need a 5th starter and you like any of these guys, contact me. I'll give them away.

All in all, it's an encouraging start. I need to find someone to start at 3B for two months though. I'd love to bring Carbajal up, but that's a really dumb idea.

I think Tian is a good add. I wanted him, just not at that price or more than 1 year.

It's ST, so you never know. Plus, as Sparky Anderson always said "You can not have too much pitching"

I like the stats Rex Knight has put up so far this spring. It'll be a tough decision on whether to keep him or ship him back to AAA if he keeps it up, but I hate bringing guys up from AA straight to the BLB.

But, if he earns a job, he can play center and let Hiraki DH. Maybe that would help keep him healthy. Decisions, decisions...

Honestly, I don't think Knight is ready... why ruin the guy when you can send him to AAA... let him dominate, gain ratings and call him up in the middle of a pennant race. He'll be like the perfect trade, except you won't have to give up anything to get him.

Says the man who brought up Curt Goodwin from A ball at 18 ;)

I think Knight's ready if he can play everyday. I think it's a waste if he's going to be a backup, but he certainly has the ratings to play in the BLB.

I'm pretty sure it will still play them.

I agree. I think his ratings are ready, but like you say, he'd have to play everyday. Theres no chance I'd let him sit on the bench.

That being said, unless something happens before the end of ST, i'm leaning heavily towards him starting the season in AAA.

Regardless if players sit on the bench or play every day... they gain ratings while in the big leagues... now I'm not sure if you gain more for playing more... but unlike the minors, just sitting on the bench gets you points in OOTP.
