  • SIM COMPLETE - 1986 - Preseason

    Next sim: Wednesday

I didn't go the full 30 days on Sunday because I forgot to set the DFA time to 30 days before it. This means we're still about 2 weeks short of ST. I'm going to run a sim tomorrow around noon that brings us to ST. I'll then run the first ST sim on Thursday at the normal time.

What a Geake! I just couldn't come up with enough cash. Looks like it's gonna' be another winter with no big FA signings for Los Lunas. I need another season or two to build up cash reserves.

Are you going to import before running the sim tomorrow?

Yes, definitely. I'm hoping teams will move their players off of DFA.

And very "Un-Windy City-like" Not usually the hub of huge contracts. Have to think he was signed assuming he could be moved for value later in the season.

                But that's where you're wrong.

Windy City decided not stuff all of it's excess money underneath the mattress this year.

If anyone has done any research (and I'll assume they haven't), we have nobody...absolutely nobody to pay this or next year. With all that money sitting there we buy a top line pitcher for one year. He's off the books next year, and by that time Geoff Eilliot should be ready to take his place from AAA.

We've completely retooled our pitching staff this offseason. Remember now, we were the top scoring team in the IL last year. Our pitching is MUCH better this year.

We're in it to win it now, and beyond. If you don't look past the surface you might think this is a fiscally irresponsibile move. It's quite the contrary. We've been so responsible moving contracts the last 3 seasons that we had a ton of cash. So we spend it.

We have a quality staff, a quality lineup, and a bump in fan interest. And after this year, contract is off the books.

That's cuz we usually can't even afford to pay our own players let alone a F/A. I think Dardon is our only one.

We'll be back to "classic" Windy City offseasons next year.

You can't take it with you... might as well spend it.

I had to DFA guys this sim with the signing of Ghaniy, Boloderes, and Viret clearing waivers to make room for them on my 40 man roster. If they have 30 days remaining, they're ok, right?

Yes, that's fine. Anything over ~10 days should be fine for today's sim.
