My scout has him #1 in overall potential, 6-7-7. He also has him #8 on the draft list, the highest rated player left when I picked.

Last year with my first round pick I took 2B Robert Abbott. A lot of people said their scout didn't like him at all. When the first prospect report came out he was ranked I think 98th. Now he is #50.
Mine had him 5-5-5/2-2-2. He was on my list, but I was more interested in...whatever the guys name is that I picked.

He is someone I would have considered with that pick but I don't think that I would have traded up to get him as there were several other players out there at that time that I liked just as well.

        • Kinda curious as to what people thought about Hayes. I'm kinda concerned that he fell to me, because with 7-7-5 potential, he shouldn't have.

          • I liked Hayes, but wasn't going to take him in the top 10. I just don't feel comfortable taking a reliever at that point.

Anyway, I'm ready to pick whenever I'm up. It's on Sandwich round right now

He was the top reliever on my board and I had been hoping to get him at 2(2).

                • I really liked Hayes too. I told myself no matter how good a reliever was I wasn't picking one with my 1st round pick otherwise I would've taken him.

                    Thanks for the responses guys.

Giving up a future (hopefully late) 2nd round pick is totally fine with me. Woods was the #1 guy according to my scout going into the draft and he was the highest rated guy via the Draft List when I traded for the pick. We can only go off what our scout thinks, and I couldn't risk losing the guy my scout likes the best. Of course, he could be a huge bust, but I will take that chance every time. Plus, I am desperate for SP prospects.

                    • Got the guy I wanted, I'm thrilled Colt Guinane lasted this far. My scout doesn't think he's a Don Hudson or anything, but he still thinks he wil be a solid player. At catcher, offense is always a plus. I'm desperately thin on catchers in the minors. He's still pretty raw but projectable. I'm real happy with the way I've drafted so far.

Getting Smythe and Guinane will help boost an organization thin on positional prospects.

                      • Damn Colt was high up on my list and I was hoping he'd fall to me. My scout has him a 5/6/5/5

                          • I decide to go with the #2 reliever on my board. I was very disappointed that both Hayes and Tanner went before it was my turn. I was starting to think that I would get one of them at 2 (2).

Guinane was high on my board as well but couldn't justify picking a C with Kubota on my team.

Can't believe Tanner fell to the Sandwich round. I put Rivera and Tanner as #1 and #2 on my list at the middle of the first round and I ended up getting both. Probably means I'm doing something wrong.
