  • 1986 Amateur Draft Discussion

Figured I'd post a sticky now that the draft class is published.

I only had a brief second to fiddle through it this morning, but at first glance... looks to be one of those classic OOTP classes where it's only really exceptional at MR. Spotted a few guys that looked nice for the teams picking Top 5... but I think there's another crisp fall off if you're not looking 'pen.

My scout sees two '8' power guys, one of them being pretty nice across the board, but OSA hate both of them. In fact, of my scouts top 5 offensive guys, OSA likes, oh, none of them. Neat.

Yeah... but at least, unlike last season, we have a frame of reference if you have the same scouts. That's why I kept all my scout stuff from last season. Now I'll just take all the guys from last year's draft in the BA Top 100 and see what my scouts thought of them Pre-Draft last season.

It's not science... but it gives me a jumping off point.

I have a feeling that with this new system, anything you can use to your advantage, you should. Some of it is bound to work eventually.

In the end, it's all dumb luck most of the time.

When does the draft kick off so I'll be prepared! Can't have another OSFL debacle.

The draft starts during the spring training sims.

                  Thursday, right?

Tuesday takes us to ST... then Thursday kicks off ST.

OSA is wrong on one of them.

OSA and my scout have Caden Hill as a can't miss one-inning Middle Reliever. I find it amusing that his scouting report says he throws 101+ and that it looks even faster. Great Scott!

When does the draft start in non-BLB time?

With the disparity in Scouting in this version, it might not be in your best interest to tip your hand on what your scouts say about anyone.

                              Perfect, thanks.

That will give me plenty of time to agonize over my first pick assuming I am unable to find anyone who will take it off my hands.
