Blah, a bunch of guys my scout liked (actually guys my scout thought would be HoF caliber players) are now just average Joes.
Some scouts are just miserable (i.e. the one with my squad)- oh well, makes it so much more fun! I'm gonna let him be my Matt Millen, lets see how long this relationship can go.

Oh well, hopefully the 1986 season will bring about better things for the Kodiaks.California Kodiaks - GM - 1982-2013

Sonofagun...At first I thought I was just imagining things, so I wrote down my offers this time around and sure enough...players are signing with other teams for less money. Is this a glitch or will a player occasionally decide he'd rather play for one team over another?

Well Soca's back in Pawtucket! I think he's in the twilight of his career but at only $3mm a year for only 2 years, he's worth the risk. Even if he's an ass.
I'm wondering how the Kelly Carpenter signging will work out. He's only due $5.5mm this year, which is good since I dont have a ton of cash, and he'll earn most of his money once O'Loughlin is off the books. He's done pretty well in the the division for Pitt and is an innings eater. If I can get 200 IP a year out of him for the next 3 years or so at a decent ERA it'll be worth it.

Tuesday, December 31st, 1985: Veteran Soca Signs 2-Year Deal
Pawtucket fans embraced the signing of Joe Soca today with a few doubts. While most were appreciative that the club had signed a solid ballplayer, they were also concerned about his reputation as a "me first" kind of guy.
Soca was signed for $6,020,000 over 2 years.
Thus far in his career Soca has 21 saves with a 52-28 record and a 3.13 ERA.

Saw my first FA with lowered contract demands. I think that's the first time I've seen it before ST.
***
Also noticed some former Colonials hangin' up the spikes on 1/1/86.
Naohiro Watanabe - An unsung hero during the early years in the *new* Colonial era. Never a great player, but is sprinkled around the Virginia leaderboard. Solid '79 season.
Terry Clymer - Always played well in my minors. Had a cup of coffee in '80... and a sip in '82 and '84.
And... as far as Non-Colonials... the man... the myth... the legend... the adjective.... Henry Stafford hangs 'em up!!The Great One!
To many rings to count...

Also your boy Barrerra hung them up.
Other notable players retiring...
CF Junior Shannon
DH Antonio Wetton
2B Truman Lovings
The list goes on and on...
Not seeing anyone from this class that is HOF worthy though...California Kodiaks - GM - 1982-2013
