As I understand it for this season, I put up $2 and Wolf $5, if neither of us wins it all, we recalculate contributions at the end of next season based on how we did in 1986 and add those to this year's contributions and so on.
With just two of us in, I suggest the loser just pays up at the end, which could be a long time from now. I'm good for it and I trust Wolf will be too.
I was also thinking that if no one that plays in to the cash pot wins, the best record (probably going to be riverman if we go heads up) wins 75% of the pot, and only 25% rolls over. That way, in Andrew's example, someone couldn't just come in and win everyone's hard earned money after three years but it would still grow the pot. And if it turns out to just be me and riverman (but I do think a few mroe guys would get in), then the pot might get up to 12-13 dollars by 1990. And that's when the real fun begins.Charlotte Knights - OSFL

Cost per team is $3,000,000 / 1,944 = $1,543.21
I'd say if someone was making book on the BLB, Maine would be something like 2-1 or maybe even closer to 1-1 to win it all next season and he is already getting better than 12-1 on the original schedule and something like 18-1 on the above.
On the bottom end as originally scheduled Mississippi gets 300-1 and I get 150-1, which seems about right so someone in the middle must be getting screwed.

To be honest though, this isn't something I'm really that interested in doing. The financial system is confusing enough to keep track of as is.

BUMP for last shot. Right now the pool is $7 dollars. Davenport and Syracuse are the only ones that are in.
Because of the low numbers we're going the honor system way and paying up when it's all said and done. Also, you can only win money from the years you play. If you want to play in 86, just post in this thread before tomorrow night @9.Charlotte Knights - OSFL

Sorry to anyone who would have been interested, but I completely forgot about this. I know riverman and I had a kind of on-going agreement so I am assuming we are both back in, but I am not sure. Jim, you back in? The carryover was a whopping $12.
Riverman, your buy in this year would be $2. Nice bet the way you are sitting. If you don't want to do this anymore just let me know.
Jim, yours would be $10. Let me know if you still want in.
Mine is 5. I am in for 1987. We would be the only ones eligible for the carry over.
Anyone else that wants in I figure even though the season has started, if you want in just post in this thread before Sunday. Anyone new to the pool this year would only be eligible for the 1987 pool, no carry over.Charlotte Knights - OSFL

At first I was in favor of people being able to buy in at any time and be eligible for the entire carryover, but the thought was that some scrub like Pat would wait until the pot was 300 bucks and he could buy in for 3 dollars or something.
The way I was tracking it was just in a word document for each season as to who bought in for what money. So if Jim ends up winning in 1991, and he bought in each year, he'd win the whole thing. If he only bought into 86, 87, 89, and 91, he'd only win the money put in the pot for those seasons. It would leave the 88 and 90 pots out there available only for those who bought in that year.
That being said if Jim and River are interested in something where you could buy in to the previous years pot, I'm open to it. Just let me know what ideas you all have.Charlotte Knights - OSFL

I guess I'm basically saying, I would buy in for a certain % of the current carryover. That way if someone wanted to wait until 5 years from now and the pot is $300 they would be buying in for $75, $100, $125, $150, or whatever fair % is determined. I certainly understand the rationale for trying to keep someone from trying to swoop in on a big pot. I'm good either way, just thought it would make things more clearcut.Philly Freedom
