    Will do.

And those who don't... all your good talent gets shipped to California where I will gladly return said talent for some horrible overpriced talent...

Sadly, comments like this aren't funny when they're true.

Washington had their chance, but Wilmington took the last two games of our 4-gamer. Stout Division Champs! We get Carolina, which should be a tough matchup. Romo's back for the playoffs, so that's nice.

        ****!!!!

I shouldn't be pissed to win 80 games when my high side estimate was 70.... buck ****!!! I let winnable games go this sim and missed my chance to finish above .500!

        ****!

Good season though! Awesome numbers from my bats. Magness had his coming out party (similar to Diesel's but with less ass chaps). Good season for the Colonials.

Good luck to the Playoff teams.

At least we finished on a wining note going 5-2 this last sim. Taking 3 from Virginia and 2 from Wilmington. We welcome the off season...give us time to clear up our DL. Good luck to all the Playoff teams.

We're going to murder Washington. We have a better lineup, a better rotation, and a better bullpen. The Bats are less superior in every way!

I almost left Merlin Thompson off the postseason roster. Only his thirst for revenge on the Bats kept me from selecting someone else. I guarantee he throws at least five scoreless innings against Washington.

We finished the season 4-15. The marketing department is going to have to work extra hard to sell those season tickets this winter.

finishes the season with a 5-2 week including a three game sweep of Philly to end the year.
                        <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
Even in winning California manages to screw up as we ended up losing out on the #2 and #3 picks by two games to Davenport and one to Los Alamos… <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:City w:st="on">Davenport</st1:City> went 3-4 this sim and <st1:place w:st="on">Los Alamos</st1:place> 1-6. Sometimes even when things go well in <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Cali</st1:place></st1:City>, they go wrong.
                        <o:p></o:p>
For the first time in history <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">California</st1:place></st1:State> has gone two years in a row without 100 losses. I’m very proud of being the first owner in <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">California</st1:place></st1:State> to accomplish this feat. I know I take my lumps on the forum, but <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">California</st1:place></st1:State> was a dump when I took over, and I think with a bit more luck, I might be on the right track.
                        <o:p></o:p>
Now on to the year end awards for the Kodiaks.
                        <o:p></o:p>
                        Positives:
                        <o:p></o:p>
                        Mack McMurdo – 8-4, 2.74 ERA/ 29.9 VORP:
                        <o:p></o:p>
McMurdo had his breakout year at age 37 by posting QS in all of his last eight starts. The way pitchers seem to get better in the BLB as they get close to 40 we hope McMurdo has one good year left in the tank for next year.
                        <o:p></o:p>
                        Wayne Smith – 3-1, 2.39 ERA/ 1.09 WHIP/ 33.3 VORP:
                        <o:p></o:p>
Smith, who has already appeared in 157 games will be entering next year as our main bullpen guy, just like he was this year. I fear I may be burning this guy out too soon as he’s still only 21… but he’s faired well in the last two seasons while still averaging 75 games in ’84 and ’85 respectfully. If all goes to plan, I wouldn’t be shocked to see this guy some day top the list for most appearances by a pitcher in BLB history. He’s that durable, and he’s that good.
                        <o:p></o:p>
                        Oswaldo Escarcaga- 12-10, 3.03 ERA/ 53.0 VORP:
                        <o:p></o:p>
Oswaldo, who was one of my first ever transcations for the Kodiaks, (picked him up in the 1982 Rule V draft) from <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Sin</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">City</st1:PlaceType> won his 40th game for <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">California</st1:place></st1:State> this year. By far the most consistent pitcher in Kodiak history, Escarcaga will be in his last year of arbitration next year. Only 30, I’m hoping I can lock him down somewhere between 4-5 million a year for the next 3-4 years.
                        <o:p></o:p>
Alberto Grandon / Mark Steward / Robby Shannon:
                        <o:p></o:p>
My monsters of mash, this trio rarely, if ever actually saw the field together as all were out with various injuries throughout the year. Combined the trio managed to hit 70 HR’s, drove in 236 runs and scored 199 times. If the three can actually manage to string a couple months together without getting hurt, I’ll like my line-up for next year.

Finished the season going 18-16 in our last two months.
                        <o:p></o:p>
                        Negatives:
                        <o:p></o:p>
We hate playing at home. Posting a respectable 38-43 record on the road, the Kodiaks managed to go 31-50 at home. Not quite sure where the disconnect is with my team and our home park, but that needs to change.
                        <o:p></o:p>
                        Joe Toapanta’s first four months:
                        <o:p></o:p>
Joe had a rocky start to the year by never posting an ERA below five in his first 21 starts. During the next three months, Joe’s ERA never rose above 3.35. Hopefully next year Joe can be a consistent #3 next year settling in the high 3’s for the entire season, and not just half.
                        <o:p></o:p>
                        Money management:
                        <o:p></o:p>
I seriously have problems managing money… this year absolutely proved that rule. Hopefully next year I cut down on the horrible trades and just stand pat and allow my organization to stand on its own two feet.
                        <o:p></o:p>
                        Overall:
                        <o:p></o:p>
Not pleased with how the season went, but I’m not really upset either. We had a couple of players show great promise… Steward, Grandon, Shannon… but we also got some horrible news. Steward gets injured with a hamstring strain and now my scout thinks he went from a .300 hitter to a .250 hitter tops. Despite finishing the season under 100 losses, I felt like this team gave a good effort and that we actually do have some pieces to build around in the future and make our run in 1987.

Not to burst your bubble, but I think Pete Kellum actually holds the records for OBP. Trying to dig up his page right now.

EDIT - Yep, .469 in 1978 and .466 in 1980. He had a .483 OBP in 1979 but didn't qualify that year because he was hurt.
