Damn... if you want a testimony on the HAVES v the HAVE NOTS in the league right now... if the season ended today... only 1 team (Virginia) that will not make the playoffs will have a record about .500. Now, there's certainly a chance that more will emerge... for comparison... in 1984 a total of 6 non-playoff teams that missed the playoffs had above .500 records.
My personal opinion, I think teams are getting behind the leaders early in the season, and blowing it up way too quickly. The Great One!

We had to blow it up. But our future is solid. Burgett has thrust himself into the HR leaders, don't think he'll break Kirby's team record though.
Wetton looks like he maybe our starting 2B next year. We may end of the year with 5 players over 20 HR. If Dardon didn't get hurt, we likely would have 6 out of 8. I like our lineup next year.
Pitching our biggest need is MR. But help is on the way. Also hopefully the F/A period will help.
No contracts to worry about for awhile. We'll be back soon.WINDY CITY PLAYBOYS

Well, I know I'm being cautiously optimistic right now but I think I've built a good young pitching staff (right up there in in the Lager division for the next few seasons at least). Puerias is 29, Wilde is 26, Areas is 24, and Gutierrez is 19. Sammy Homer is waiting in the wings, but who knows what he's going to develop into. My middle-relief stinks and that's the next thing to work on, among others.
My offense will be much younger next year- as far as projected starters, there will be one player over the age of 30 in my lineup next year. It was a fun rebuilding season. With my division being the NL West of the BLB, it will be fun to watch.

Swept first place Indy, so that's something to hang our hat on....and get a worse draft pick. Way to show up in September. However, still need to go one game over .500 to avoid the worst season in club history.
On the bright side of things, SP Jeff Flynn, who came over from California for a 6th round pick, has been a steal for his $3.5m contract. If his numbers hold up for next year, that'll be pretty exciting.
Since the trade: 9 Starts, 5-1, 2.09, 14BB, 47K, VORP 19.5 with 1 SO.

FUCK FUCK FUCK!
Mark Steward, who put up just an awesome year but was lost to a hamstring strain for the next three months just magically loses a full point in contact and power.
I'm seriously considering quitting.
