  • Pilsner Division Talk

Not to steal from the Stout thread, but I like the idea and figured we could even talk some trash if need be. Get the rivalries going.

What do you guys think about the season so far? I gotta say I'm surprised to be above .500 and above Dallas in the standings. I also thought Denver was going to be better. I figured Indy would be what they are right now, but didn't think they would do it with as solid of pitching as they have. Any predictions guys? I figure Indy hangs on and we fade to third behind Dallas. No one really is losing any one big at the end of the season either outside of maybe John Harbison for Denver.

Denver plays in the Pilsner. I would have never known.

Seriously, though, freaking John Harbison has a resurgence and now he wants $10 MM+ to hit under .270 and provide some pop, all while having the range of Andruw Jones reaching for a celery stick. Screw him.

But the reason why my team sucks is simple.

I have two legit starters and a fifth starter in Irigary acting like my number three.
My bullpen is young and still shaky enough to lose close games.
My offense has four top hitters (Zamarida, Tesina, Seagarra, Sanchez), an above average hitter (Harbison) and four scrubs that can't hit above a fever.

If I had at least some average hitters in that group of four scrubs then my offense is above-average. But, those four pretty much wipe out the top four.

It should be an interesting last couple of months. I'm starting to feel like this may be my shot to win the division, but I could see Dallas and Syracuse winning it also.

Getting past Maine/Pittsburgh is going to be insanely tough though.

I can see myself losing my two best SP's next year, so I just dont see ourselves being as good next year as we have been in 1985.

But, its been fun as hell so far. Its nice to be part of a pennant chase and not just waiting until the end of the season so we can draft our most recent busts.

My prediction for the final standings are...

        - Indy
        - Dallas
        - Syracuse
        - Denver

I think Indy made some good moves to get a lot better. I think Syracuse has shown some promise but will probably fade out after a little while. Denver has 5 guys on the BA top 100 list so I think in a couple years they'll be a contender. I think the Snappers are underachieving right now. I'm hoping we'll make a good run in August & September but I think we'll still fall a little short.
