Thanks for the fill-in sim Brad!

Swept Phoenix 3-0, then split the four game series with Batavia. But that's only good enough to have a one game lead in the Bock.

Someday I'll post the sad tale of former top 100% SP Hackney who got to pitch to ONE batter this last week.

Does feel at times the game has it out for certain players.

Its still just sad. First 2 minor league season I saw nothing stopping him from being a solid #4, then the 2-3 month injury, then the set back.

He did strike out his only guy he faced with his mom in attendance ...which is all he wanted to do.

Don't take it the wrong way... it sucks. I drafted SP Dusty Furlong with my first pick in 2037, 39th overall. He was durable, but he did have two collegiate injuries in one season. I decided I was going to "shut him down" after posting 61.2 IP in CCBL, his lone collegiate season. He didn't pitch for over a month. Well, after roster cut downs, and other injuries at RL, I figured, "well, he's DURABLE, he can probably pitch an inning or two a week in relief and be fine." I set his pitch count to just 15. Put him as a MR. He pitched that next sim and needed Elbow ligament reconstruction surgery (10-11 months) after pitching just one inning. He's still durable but he did take a ratings hit.

As for Hackney, I think he fell in the draft because of his injury concerns. If he had been healthy in college, he doesn't last to 2.14. In fact, he probably doesn't last to 1.14 if he didn't have those injuries. OSA had him 65-55-55 before his injuries began. My scout had him 65-55-50 at the time he was drafted. But the guy had a 6 week arm injury his first college season. Then he had four day-to-day injuries in his second season, followed by three other injuries once he hit your minors. Could you have handled his workload better? Maybe. Would it have necessarily made a difference? Maybe not. That's why I mentioned Furlong above. You can do everything you can to handle these situations the best you can...and sometimes they still blow their damn arm out.
