The Bats come roaring out the gate with a 6-1 week, sweeping Philly at home before winning 3/4 in California. Really good week at the plate as we lead the IL in most hitting categories and Reger Zuniga won IL POTW. Our pitching was really average and had a couple of meltdowns, but we hit so well that it barely mattered. The only disappointing regular at the plate was Oscar D'Addona, who's looking like a lost cause at the plate ever since coming over to DC, not that he was great at hitting prior to his arrival here. Colin Bailey wasn't great either, but he only played in 2 games.

Rookie Griffin Downing "won" the job in ST because I liked his ratings and he made his BLB debut by giving up 3 runs in 1 inning. He won't be long for AAA with that kind of play.

We stay on the road for 3 games in Maine and hopefully we're not too jet lagged traveling from California. Then we're home for a long homestand for a few weeks.

        Thanks Matt!

The Pilots looked mediocre to start the year with a 2-4 week, 1-2 vs. Windy City and getting just an extra-innings win at Batavia, 1-2. The pitching was actually decent as we finished the week 2nd in the IL in RA but the defense, 11th and hitting, 12th, were some of the worst in all of baseball. The silver lining is the pitchers we faced: Barton Mejia, King Sadiraj, Frasier Gilbert, Ciaran Ortiz, Jayden McLean and Sheng Jong. It's only sim #1 but I would be surprised if we faced six SPs that good in any of the remaining 25 sims.

Still worried about old Tom Sellers. The only thing that made his season debut look better (2.2 IP, 4 ER, pacing a -2.0 WAR) was the fact that three other runs were unearned due to defense. Unfortunately, one of those errors were his own. He's still the #20 SP in baseball but in 10 starts dating back to last year in Seattle, he's 1-4 with about an 8.00 ERA.

My FA import pitchers shined: RP Omari "My Name Is Willie" Beamon is on pace for a 12.7 WAR in 243 innings of relief. And SP Dave Martwick pitched five innings of one-hit ball, no runs, and seven strikeouts.

We look a lot like last year, but with worse pitching, unfortunately. We are counting on three rookies on the pitching staff and our offence isn't consistent enough (although it still scores in bunches) to outslug every game.
