    6. CONTRACTS
    • A Team Option must contain a minimum buyout equal to:
      • (A) The difference between the highest guaranteed year salary and the amount of the team option (provided the option year $$ > the highest guaranteed year $$),
      • (B) 10% of the amount of the team option,
      • Whichever amount is greater.
    • Vesting option years are not allowed
    • Only one Team Option may be used per contract, and it must be in the last year of the contract. This prevents people from stacking Player Options after the Team Option.
    • Players cannot be signed to contract extensions until after they have received their second arbitration contract. Players become eligible for contract extensions once they have two "Received a 1-year contract worth a total of $xx through arbitration." in their player history.
    • For each contract year, the $$ value of an individual season must be at least 50% of the highest guaranteed season value

    Thanks Matt!

11-4 to tie with Miami, Washington and Windy City for the King of Spring.

Stayed healthy and got everyone I needed adequate reps. Will rest a bit more in the second half but hopefully a .500 record down the stretch. In FA we added RP Jimmy Zimmerman on a minor league option. My scout still thinks he's pretty lethal against righties despite his lackluster performances the past 1.5 seasons after being traded from Seattle in 2037.

Most encouraging performance from SS Pat Holes. After posting a 3.1 WAR, then 5.2 WAR he fell to just 1.1 WAR last season and when you consider his defense, that shows how poor he was at the plate. In 39 PA of ST he's hitting .342 with a 1.017 OPS. I don't expect anything like that in the regular season but he's the only player on my 40 man ST roster that's not in a good mood because of his "very unhappy" morale on performance. On the pitching side, SP Bradley Beehn threw 12 innings of 1.50 ERA. The former #1 prospect is 24-year-old and while he still has a lot of room left to grow we could really benefit from him emerging as a reliable SP. Last year he was pretty hit or miss and swung between starting and relief.

While he is unlikely to make the Opening Day roster, and possibly won't even survive the ST roster cuts, P Manabu Hamada is pitching quite possibly for the last time. After a -0.7 WAR in 15 tanking starts for SDR last year the 37-yo has since taken an even further ratings hit and doesn't add much value. Somehow, he's thrown 8.1 innings of one run ball in a role to just eat a few innings.

11-4 for the Bats. Zuniga has a DTD injury and Ammons had a brief one but is now okay, so we'll definitely be resting more in the second half of ST.

It's a pretty similar roster to last year, so not a lot to look at in terms of prospects. I did call up SS Andrew Otero (my #2 prospect, OSA #34) and he hit .261 (.737 OPS), though he's likely to spend most of the season in AAA, probably the entire year really. There's some competition for a spot or two at the back of the bullpen, and youngsters Logan Kiracofe, Griffin Downing and Ignacio Bolling all pitched pretty well to make their claim on the spot. I think it'll be Downing, but the others will be knocking on the door.

In the lineup, really good play from new signing Colin Bailey with a 1.337 OPS. He'll be called upon to hit against lefties mainly, but will have a chance to be more than that if he hits well enough. Alonzo and Nunes had big starts, and Oscar D'Addona had a strong showing. I'd like to get a little more out of him at the plate, especially with Otero getting close to the BLB.
