    Thanks Matt!

Seattle posts a 5-2 week to maintain a 5.5 lead over California. The Kodiaks are the hottest team in baseball so nothing is settled quite yet in the Bock. Four of our five remaining opponents (DEN, CAR, LAD, WC) still have playoff implications while only three of Cali's do (DEN, BAT, LAD).

The real bummer of the sim was CF Riley Thomas having a setback in his recovery after my lengthy post in the DK calling him an average player. The OOTP gods are always listening. He will miss an additional week and now won't be healthy until the regular season is over. The setback also means he won't be healthy when the October 1st rescout happens, so it won't be fully clear how much the injury has hurt his abilities. CF is by far our weakest position on the roster, even if he were healthy. Even a rusty Thomas might be better than the combination of Lance Burns and Elisha Zeigler, who now have a combined -0.1 WAR in 100+ games. Depending on how these final 17 games go, I might have to consider moving Robby Lee and/or Richie Van Luik to CF, despite their 55 range.

In the minors, we got smoked in RL losing 5-7 and 0-5 in a sweep by Sacramento (BAL). In the other three levels the Seattle affiliates won their respective divisions and will hopefully win a series or two.

Our roller coaster season continues, this time in a positive way... Hopefully we can hold off the rest of the hard charging IL, as we fight for a Wild Card spot!

Another 5-1 week in Washington, sweeping New York and taking 2/3 from Denver. That clinched the Stout Division and with a good week in the next sim, the #1 overall seed would also be locked up. We need to go .500 the rest of the way to match the franchise record of 110 wins.

Hitting star of the week was Blake Hartman, who hit .350 with 3 HRs, bringing him to a new franchise record 41 homers this season, breaking the Bats' record that had stood since 1990. If the season ended right now, Zuniga, Nunes and Hartman would have the three best OPS seasons in team history as well.

It wasn't as good on the pitching side, with Ammons and Alston both having rough starts. I'll need better from them in the playoffs.

Not sure you are aware of this liquidcrash but the Bats are currently pacing the best season in Washington history and I believe the best season by a non-Clay team.

I know we're pacing ahead of the franchise record, as I mentioned. Playoff Odds has the Bats winning 113 games (rounding up from 112.9), which is really good but not the best ever. Batavia won 112 just two seasons ago. I think the best ever (non-Clay) was 2023 Kansas City, who won 116. They don't show up on the utility anymore, but several other teams have won 114.

I've been watching to see if we can get to that, but we'll likely come up short. Of course, many of these teams lost in the playoffs, and my Bats will almost assuredly flame out in the ILDS.
