      3-3 sim, not bad

Lost two close games to Pitt and won the series against Pawtucket. Baby steps :)

Let's see...lost 2 of 3 to Dallas....they're above .500...k not bad. Swept Denver...that's huge! Wait...no...no...they actually have a worst record than my team...no accomplishment there. Currently 2 starters out a month...another 2 out a week....this is really killing my playoff chances.

Losing Tandy hurt. And to top it off I lost an entire series to Virginia. Just sad.

            The Good:

Jimmy O'Loughlin throws a 5 hit shutout complete game against Mississippi. Victor Gonzalez keeps up hitting the ball hitting .329 over the sim with a few extra base hits.

Rookie SS Hamilton Remy, who is now getting playing time due to the Longstreet trade is hitting .341/.398/.500 in his first 26 games in the BLB. The kids on this team are really holding this thing together at this point. Ortiz, Remy and Gonzalez are all batting over .300 this season in their first full seasons.

            The Bad:

Going 3-4 this sim, again having a losing sim. Losing two of 3 to Mississippi hurts especially the 7/21 game where the Patriots came out and scored a run in the 11th to go ahead and then Calvin James gave up 2 runs in the bottom of the 11th to lose it.

            The Ugly:

Injuries. Although not at the major league level, I've now got 4 guys in AA and 1 in A that are out 1+ months. Signing minor league free agents to try to fill out rosters is a full time job right now.

Overall at 44-47, not really where we wanted to be but showing some progress. After losing 100+ games the last two years, a .500 finish would be a good start. Couple that with some of the kids playing well and a few more hopefully on the way, this thing may be starting to turn around.
Rookie Juan Ortiz is starting to cool off a bit

2-4 and another fine sim as we continue to close the gap with Carolina, picking up a 1/2 game for the second consecutive week. Bill Gillespie who had struggled for most of the season was the star picking up both wins with 17 shutout innings.

                    4-3 sim.

Hitting sucks, pitching sucks... what else is new?
