      Thanks Matt!

Seattle bounces back from a slow start to take two of three in Indy and then sweeping the Exports in Seattle for three more. The Bock looks as strong as predicted, with an 8-5 record the Pilots find themselves tied for fourth.

I think I'm really going to regret not adding a 2B or catcher of starting quality, sooner than later. So far the platoon at catcher between TJ Ellison and Tristan Logan is pacing a -6.3 WAR for the season. At 2B, Johnny Thompson and Laurence Youmans -2.0 WAR for the season. Only two weeks into the season, but it won't be long before I wish had just paid Alpha McCormick and Dave Davidson.

Hitters Dave Hoyt, Alan Gerber, Robby Lee and Richie Van Luik are all hitting .300+ and .900+ OPS. This time last season, none of these guys were on the active roster. They are the new era of hitters for the bats with the departures of Johnny Swope, Nehemiah Daniel, Jimmy Jeffs and Mat Barone in recent years. In a 9-8 extra innings win agains the Racers, those four combined for 10 hits.

Pitching is going to be another year of smoke and mirrors in the rotation. We have been dabbling with Sonny Wilson as an opener. He's pacing 30 GS and just 60 IP, but a 2.3 WAR. In his four starts the Pilots are 3-1.

A good week for the Bats, 5-1 with a sweep of Maine followed by winning 2/3 against Pawtucket. We're 9-4 and in first place.

Through two weeks, we lead the BLB in runs scored and we're tied for first in runs allowed, giving us a league best +50 run differential. The only minor complaint is the blown saves, but that was last week's problem.

The star of the week in the lineup was Reger Zuniga - .462 (1.754 OPS). He's up to #9 on the Top Players list. Justin Babbage continued his good start and leads the league with a .447 average. It would be great to see him get back to the level of performance from a few seasons ago. We lead the IL in most offensive categories.

On the mound, Ian Ammons hasn't allowed a run yet in his 3 starts (19.2 IP). He gave up just one hit in 7.1 innings against Pawtucket, retiring the last 19 hitters he faced.

The schedule gets very difficult for the next few sims, starting with this next week as we go on the road to face Carolina and Seattle.

Another strong week for California. Our offence scored enough runs, but wasn't nearly as prolific as it was week one, which was to be expects.

Getting Josh Wright on a minor league deal, will pay off immediately as LH DH Norm Cupp will be out this week with a nagging injury.

DH Drew Ansell after a great spring has had a very difficult time adjusting to regular BLB at bats, although he did hit a big three run homer in a come from behind 8-6 win!

C Jimmy Welborn is off to slow start... Hopefully he comes around shortly, as for the first time in a long time, our backup is not a BLB veteran.
