    6. CONTRACTS
    • A Team Option must contain a minimum buyout equal to:
      • (A) The difference between the highest guaranteed year salary and the amount of the team option (provided the option year $$ > the highest guaranteed year $$),
      • (B) 10% of the amount of the team option,
      • Whichever amount is greater.
    • Vesting option years are not allowed
    • Only one Team Option may be used per contract, and it must be in the last year of the contract. This prevents people from stacking Player Options after the Team Option.
    • Players cannot be signed to contract extensions until after they have received their second arbitration contract. Players become eligible for contract extensions once they have two "Received a 1-year contract worth a total of $xx through arbitration." in their player history.
    • For each contract year, the $$ value of an individual season must be at least 50% of the highest guaranteed season value

    Thanks Matt!

Seattle sweeps Denver in three, but splits the four game series against Batavia. Unfortunately California went 6-1 to increase the Bock lead to four games. The Pilots are dead even with the Red Jackets for the #2 WC at 70-48. Getting that home series for the WC round is important not just to move on but for revenue. Could be a battle down the stretch.

Signs of life from "Big Stick" Swope as he had a 3-hit game @ Denver and then a 2-HR game vs. Batavia to open the series. Unfortunately he went 0-13 the next three games and dropped his OPS to tie his career (rookie season) worst .808. I'm not quite sure what to make of it. My scout only shows a "5" ratings drop from where he was last season in avoid K. On the "Meet The Team" page he is still listed as the best player on my team. The fans still love him and he's a legend forever in the PNW, but there's a chance he losing playing time to a rookie down the stretch.

This sim we acquired SP Jaden Madere and OF Dave Maldonado via trade but also Toronto RP Tony Cervantes via waivers. The lefty 31-year-old was stashed in Triple-A most of the year but my scout thinks he's solid, arguably our 2nd best LHRP. It's all hands on deck down the stretch for the Pilots. The expanded roster is only 28 (instead of 40) these days but Seattle will still be using a full 40-man roster to find the best match-ups.

    Seattle Pilots- 2017-2041

Another much needed sim in California, as they only way to keep pace in the IL is to win... Often!

Two injuries this week, but only one is serious, and to a backup, so could have been worse... Tesluk comes back form injury, and hopefully he will have regained his from from last year, now that he is healthy!

Blah week. 2-5 for Pawtucket. We started traveling a bit close to .500 and the BLB gods were not pleased.

Its fine, each week just keep battling. This feels like a 72-75 win team which is a far cry from 41 wins plus all the guys are super happy so they seem to enjoy each other.

Down on the farm were gonna need a new plan. Were constantly rotating guys in and out to get them playing time moving guys all over the field.

        1) Not sure this really leads to better development.
        2) Is all this rotation messing with our team record producing angry kids who in turn won't develop ? (The cure is worse then the disease?)
        3) We've been right now the middle on player development past 3 seasons , eeking out just a bit above the baseline this season that was have a bit more money to play with. I always thought this was just window dressing cuz again if I guy is gonna be good he's gonna just be good. Perhaps with all these younger guys with huge disparity between actual / potential time to least bring it up to 8-10 million and see how it plays out?

Back in the day we rarely worried about our minor team records cuz despite where they're record was we still got good development results. Now not so much.

For next season we will try to upgrade our coaching staff and go from there, but we may just have to run with guys riding the pine until they beat out statistically the person in front of them or the guy in front just moves up a level. Well see. Just open thoughts right now.

He’s having a terrible BABIP year and his ratings are still the same but it’s v unnerving to have Falloon dicking around like this right after I paid him

3-3 for the Bats, and the red-hot Tobs have passed us. We'd been leading the Stout for several months, but now sit a 1/2 game back of Carolina. We haven't been playing poorly (9-5 in August), but they've been unstoppable lately. We dropped 2/3 to them, with that one win we got being the only game Carolina has lost so far this month. We did rebound to win a road series in Windy City.

Pat Nunes has been my best hitter since he got here and now leads the IL in batting average. That's partly because he's hitting .376 as a Bat, and partly because the former leader, Eriwjn de Jong is struggling over the past month and has seen his average plummet.

We brought in Dave Chance at the deadline to be a reserve OF and probably start against LHP. He gives us a good defensive player and a productive RH hitter and should be an upgrade over what we've been going with. He also doesn't make much money, so I can bring him back in a similar role next season.

From way way back in the day - and I assume it still applies today - players might struggle with position changes at first. So it's possible that if you're having guys rotate to learn new positions constantly, they are worried about that position change instead of their bats.

I usually try to teach new positions early (especially for guys fighting for a spot) or late in development (AAA). The middle ground where I think the players do the bulk of their development in the minors is where I touch less. I want them focused on what they do well so they can get better at it. Once they know how to do it, then I let them focus on something new.

But that's just been my philosophy lately which isn't anything ground breaking or proven. I used to have guys play all over the field and they became great in many positions but had a hard time with their offensive numbers, or I ignored teaching them new stuff altogether. There's no science to it, I don't think. Just thoughts.
