    6. CONTRACTS
    • A Team Option must contain a minimum buyout equal to:
      • (A) The difference between the highest guaranteed year salary and the amount of the team option (provided the option year $$ > the highest guaranteed year $$),
      • (B) 10% of the amount of the team option,
      • Whichever amount is greater.
    • Vesting option years are not allowed
    • Only one Team Option may be used per contract, and it must be in the last year of the contract. This prevents people from stacking Player Options after the Team Option.
    • Players cannot be signed to contract extensions until after they have received their second arbitration contract. Players become eligible for contract extensions once they have two "Received a 1-year contract worth a total of $xx through arbitration." in their player history.
    • For each contract year, the $$ value of an individual season must be at least 50% of the highest guaranteed season value

    Thanks Brad!

Swept Denver and then lost two of three against Carolina. While DC and California appear to be division favorites, Seattle is in a group of six teams in the 27 to 29 win range. Should be a battle down the stretch for those wild card spots.

SP Micah Laird continues to pitch better despite an inability to strike out batters. His K/9 is now down to 3.0, a far cry from his career 6.6 mark. Against Denver gave up just one run despite no strikeouts and three walks. He's not the player I hoped I was getting when I shelled out $26M, but he has just one earned run in his last 19 innings.

I went cheap on all the FAs who were willing to take minor league deals....and the good ones all went elsewhere.

      Thanks Brad!

We salvaged what was turning into a very 'meh week, when Josh Wright hit a game tying home run in the bottom of the ninth against New York, and 5 pitches later, Turell Morris hit a walk off home run for the win.

The bad news is, both Wright (8yr @ $12M) and Morris (5yr @ $29M) will likely walk next year as they want way too much money for DHs.

Turell seems to be shaking off the rust as he is hitting 0.435 with 6 home runs in his last seven games.
