    6. CONTRACTS
    • A Team Option must contain a minimum buyout equal to:
      • (A) The difference between the highest guaranteed year salary and the amount of the team option (provided the option year $$ > the highest guaranteed year $$),
      • (B) 10% of the amount of the team option,
      • Whichever amount is greater.
    • Only one Team Option may be used per contract, and it must be in the last year of the contract. This prevents people from stacking Player Options after the Team Option.
    • Players cannot be signed to contract extensions until after they have received their second arbitration contract. Players become eligible for contract extensions once they have two "Received a 1-year contract worth a total of $xx through arbitration." in their player history.
    • For each contract year, the $$ value of an individual season must be at least 50% of the highest guaranteed season value

    Thanks Brad!

ST1 went OK for the Pilots. A 9-6 record ties with three other teams for best showing in the Import League but a far cry from the 12-3 we saw from Toronto and Miami in the Domestic.

Unfortunately we did have a few short-term injuries: 3B Mat Barone had some shoulder inflammation, SP JJ Ray pulled an ab and SS Nehemiah Daniel sore shoulder caused day-to-day injuries for a week. The big one was rookie SS Pat Holes, former 1.21 of 2029, was finally getting a look to be a regular BLB player. He strained his oblique after one at bat and will miss almost the entirety of Spring Training. In his absence the Pilots will bring up another rookie SS Laurence Youmans and veteran minor leaguer with a major league option SS Hiroya Murata to compete for the reserve infield spot.

Still a lot of pitching spots up for grabs outside of probably three SPs (Hamada, Peacock, Kendrick) and four RPs (McGuffin, Sanchez, Wilson, Johnson). The remaining spots will be a battle between young, $280k incumbents and about half a dozen veteran journeymen on minor league contracts with major league options.

8-7 for the Bats in the first half of Spring Training. Not much to read into, but some things of note:

New closer Deval Galvan was fantastic - 7.1 IP, 12 K, 1 BB, 0 runs allowed. I'll be expecting more of the same from him - I think there's a good chance he'll be my best signing of this offseason. The trio of Galvan, A.J Brown and Reggie Chao will hopefully give me a lockdown bullpen, and those guys could pitch a bunch of innings if they're as good as I'm hoping.

My other International signing, Reger Zuniga, wasn't quite as impactful, but a .786 OPS isn't too bad. We'll see if he makes the team at the end of Spring, I'd say he's on the bubble, particularly with the new signing. I'm still really high on him, but he might not be an immediate star.

Homegrown top prospect, Coleman Franklin, is starting at 3B and is probably the in-house leader to start at that spot come Opening Day. He should be good defensively there and my scout is high on his bat. He's barely played about AAA, but he looks like my best option.

Injury news - Ethan Binger is out for two weeks after a "Train Accident." Sounds like we barely avoided a tragedy.

Transaction News - We signed OF Jamie "Toro" Rush. Hopefully he can help us out.
