    Starters

    C Shelby Houck Mor
    1B Dani Alvarez Wil
    2B Wilton Harcourt Vir
    3B Vincent Nino Car
    SS Joe Delaruz Wil
    OF Mel Woodbury PHI
    OF Cesaro Campoveroe Wil
    OF Danny Nelson Vir

    First Three SPs

    Joe Ponte Car
    Romano Gonzalez Was
    Frank Esser Car

    First Three RPs

    Brian Hanrahan Bal
    Casimiro Calezas Car
    Hernando Ortiz Bal

    Two additonal OF

    Anibal Alsina Phi
    Michio Nago Was

    Two Additional Non OF

Note: The first choice in this catagorey is Harry Elliot but he is injured and out for 2 weeks so he has been replaced by the player with the third most votes.

    Jim Newlin Phi
    Joe Sierra Was

    Two Additional Pitchers

    Nate Magness Vir
    Mark Cashan Mor

Manager Picks: The following are the assistant managers suggestions for the 8 manager picks. I picked 4 pitchers and 4 non-pitchers and I arranaged it so all teams were represented.

    Martin Carlton Vir
    Charlie O'Rogan Was

These guys each had 12 votes and seemed to be deserving. For the next two picks I chose players that are from teams that would not be represented otherwise, even though there are some pitchers left with more votes.

    Dante Lebronte Bat
    Dunmore Theodore WC

    And the non-pitchers are:

Mark Steward Cal at .314/.380/.581 this guy clearly belongs plus Cal needs to be represented

Jeremy Windly LAM With Elliot out we need a backup catcher and LAM needs to be represented. Windly is a good choice since he tied for third in catcher votes and appears to be deserving.

Jose Llombart Dav at .287/.349/.547 it is hard to understand why this guy didn't get more votes since his OPS is almost .100 points higher than some of the OFs voted in. Also, Dav needs to be represented.

There are quite a few possibilities for the last pick but I would say we could use another infielder and I think the choice should be between two players. Linty and I believe that it is very close while Clay appears to believe that Polling should be the pick.

Alberto Grandon CAl at .305/.341/.534 it would be hard to argue that he does not belong.
Josh Polling Vir see Clay's analysis of how many times Polling is in the top 3 offensive catagories

So have at it guys, if you think I have left someone out more deserving make your case.

    Agreed! 10000%

Windly should get the backup spot if Elliot is out.

And yes, Grandon should be in... but... I can see the case for Polling as well. He's just as much of a beast at 3B and is actually helping Virginia become a better team... something that can't be said about Grandon.

I never even looked at Polling since I saw he had one vote only at 3B over Nino, I just assumed it was a hometown vote of no relevance. And even though Grandon had just one vote too, I was pretty sure you wouldn't do that so I figured his vote was legit.

But now that I look at it, I agree it is very close. I am going to leave my suggestion as is though, since Grandon plays SS, while Polling does not and maybe we'll be happy to have an extra guy who can play SS late in the game.

        (A) I didn't vote for Poling, I voted for Nino.

        (B) Poling over Grandon in my opinion.

As I stated in the other thread:

The one player (besides the 5 above) that I would submit for Manager Pick consideration is Joshua Poling.

In the 18 Offensive Categories listed in-game, among IL 3B's, Poling rates:

        1st - 2x
        2nd - 5x
        3rd - 7x

        That's 14 Top 3 appearances out of 18. And the 4 he doesn't appear.... SB & 3B (no shock... he runs like a 3B)... BB's (he's 5th).... and K's (not a bad thing).

PS - It's a travesty if Magness doesn't make this team. 10 wins and a sub 3.00 ERA at the break.

You are right. Magness should have been included in the catagorey of the two remaining pitchers with the most votes. My bad. I'll revise the list but I am not sure who I should delete. Any thoughts

Polling has an almost identical OPS to Grandon. If I were managing, besides the fact that he is a little better fielder than Polling and a little more versatle, I would also give an edge to Grandon since Cali is the home team. If you see a clear reason to give the nod to Polling in a direct comparison with Grandon, make your case.

I'm not sure that a case can be made that is strong enough one way or the other... I think their season's have been nearly interchangeable. I guess if I was forced to make a case "Pro" Poling (because I can't be "Anti" Grandon because he's been great)... I would only say... statistically... considerably higher VORP... creating nearly a half a run more per 27.... and has reached base more. On a more, outside the box view, I'd simply say that they are putting up nearly identical numbers... and Poling is doing it on a team where he is the 3rd or 4th option for run producing.

I'm not worried about it... he'll be an All-Star someday.

                Fixed. I see what happened.

I originally left off the catagorey of 2 pitchers with the most votes of those not yet chosen. Those two were Magness and Mark Cashan, both have been added. I also changed the wording on the last pick, indicating that, in my opinion, it should be between Polling and Grandon and is a close decision.

BTW - I just reread that and find it a pretty bushleague statement to make. If nothing else, I've gone above and beyond to be very fair and honest with my view of my players. And to even imply that I would skew my voting away from a more deserving player is clearly unjust, untrue and uncalled for.

How can you take the stuff I write so seriously? It never occured to me that you would.

You know I can never resist an opportunity to take a shot at you. The reason I do it is because you usually write such funny stuff in response. In any case, I apologize and will try very hard not to do it again but I might not manage to resist at some point so try to be forgiving if that happens.

Oh well... while i'd have liked to see Grandon make it, and play in front of the home town fans, I'm glad to see Steward get recognized for his efforts.
