I've been looking at VORP of different players throughout the league... and I've gotta say... I'm more confused than when I started.
For example
Player A hits .305/.375/.503 in 292 at bats. He has 11HR's/38RBI's, has scored 41 runs, and walked 27 times.
Player B hits .314/.380/.581 in 236 at bats. He has 16HR's/37RBI's, has scored 42 runs, and walked 26 times.
Player A has five more doubles than Player B, but they both have 2 triples.
Player A has a VORP of 35.6
Player B has a VORP of 27.5
Does 56 at bats really make that much of a difference? A higher AVG./OBP./SLG. more HR's, more runs scored, and one less RBI/BB.
I would think Player B would have a higher VORP. Am I wrong in thinking that?
