Leicester City was a legitimate good team. Mahrez was the Premier League player of the year. Vardy set the record for most consecutive games with a goal. N’Golo Kante was (and still is) one of the best holding midfielders in the world. Rainieri played the perfect system for them. They beat Man City at the Etihad, beat Liverpool, drew United, beat Chelsea, beat and drew Spurs. Their record against top teams was good. They won the league by ten points.

Some of those other examples are one game samples and thus not applicable. The ‘95 Devils had like three hall of fame players on the team.

WC is a tough #6 seed. 23-33 against Seattle, DC, Balt, Bat and Philly.

Plus not to be critical but Linty doesn't always export which counts for more than a few losses I'm sure. During playoffs though he's great at strategy and micromanaging and does well.

Then there's just sample size and luck...and randomness. The motto for the BLB Playoffs should be "Just Get In, You Never Know".

With all that being said the first sub .500 team since 1978 (I think) making a Brewmasters isn't completely unrealistic.

Where did I say that those teams weren’t good? Windy City might have three future HOFs on this team.

It's very disappointing, whatever it is. The 6-seeds are very frisky against my team over the past decade or so.

If you know they’re good, then the premise of your post collapses on itself and I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make. None of those teams had losing records. The ‘06 Cardinals are probably the most appropriate example, and they’re not on your list. They won 83 games.

The Knicks lost in the finals that year, and it was a lockout season, so it doesn’t really make sense. The core of that Devils team won two more Stanley Cups after that.

The NCAA tournament is entirely comprised of one game samples, so those examples don’t apply either.

The NFL playoffs are one game samples. The Giants won two Super Bowls in four years.

Miracle on Ice was a one game sample. They beat the shit out of us (10-3) a few months before the Olympics.

You don’t watch soccer, so what would you know about Leicester? They were the best team in a 38 game season in which you play each team home and away. They took points from the other top six teams. They only lost 3 matches that season. They were actually good. Windy City is not good.

                          What premise did I post?

I replied to Funclown. He said he doesn't want the IL represented in a Championship Game because it "takes away from realism and would never happen in any major sport." All of my examples are from the five major sports: Baseball, Basketball, Football, Soccer and Hockey. It's why I didn't include racing, wrestling, boxing, golf, UFC, etc, because they aren't major sports but have major underdog stories.

Then, I did a quick search looking for the biggest underdogs to make a Championship Game in their sport. Windy City was the final WC seed with 78 wins. They haven't made the playoffs since 2028 and have only gone once in 11 years. They haven't won a Brewmaster's since 2009. Thus, they qualify as a one of the biggest underdog stories in BLB history if they are to make the Brewmaster's.

The Knicks did lose that year and regardless of the lock out season, they made the Championship as the 8th seed and without their best player in Patrick Ewing. They were a huge underdog that Finals.

The Devils, from wikipedia: "The win was made more impressive by the fact that the Devils won it holding the lowest seed ever to win the Stanley Cup with the fifth seed, which remained the record until 2012, another Final which not only involved the Devils, but also saw the Stanley Cup won by a team that did not have home ice advantage in any of the four rounds of the playoffs, as the Devils lost to the Los Angeles Kings. Their regular-season winning percentage was also the lowest since the 1967 Toronto Maple Leafs. They were the underdogs going in,"

The NCAAB is a major sport and the 1983 and 1985 winners were never expected to be there or win for that matter.

The NFL is a major sport and both Giants teams weren't predicted to even make their conference final.

The Miracle on Ice, I mean, come on, it's called the Miracle on Ice. That team was amateurs and college players.

What do I know about Leiceter? "Leicester’s run during the 2015-16 Premier League season may go down as the biggest longshot championship in sports history. The club defied the odds—literally, they had 5,000-to-1 odds of winning the title this season—and clinched their first trophy in team history."

As for Windy City, they aren't good? They just beat a 107 win team in the toughest division in baseball and they didn't have a single BLB player hurt. They were 2nd in the BLB in walks and steals. They have a legit rotation. Barton Mejia is special. Tom Stark is special. Ricky Pizarro is special. Tom Jensen finished 3rd in the Last Call. They also have a good manager who has won a Triple-A Championship. They also have a GM that knows a lot about baseball. Using revisionist history on those teams: Devils, Giants, etc, doesn't change the fact that they were major underdog stories. The Blues could go on to win the Brewmaster's this year, and then be one of the best teams in the IL for the next decade with their core. We could look back and say, "remember when we didn't know how good that team was?"

But you are right... I don't watch soccer. You know what else I don't really watch? Any other sport. Doesn't mean I don't know what I'm talking about.

You need to learn how to stay in your lane. Badly. If you don’t watch soccer, don’’t insist that you know more about it than someone who does.

You have this incredibly befuddling penchant for trying to condescend people and make them feel dumb, and it’s not acceptable behavior, especially when you’re obviously relying solely on copying and pasting from Wikipedia for information.
