Not necessarily. I’ve been able to snag a few solid relievers in later rounds. Whitton was a 3rd round pick. I think I took Braunscheidel at 19.

I just think it's too early to judge. In recent drafts some of the best prospects have been high school pitchers.
        Wilmington Wildcats- 2057-
        Seattle Pilots- 2017-2041
        Washington Bats - 1979-2013

I was just replying to the discussion... If I wanted to respond to your comment specifically, I would have used this quote function.

Another thing to consider as a far as obvious draft talent, is the fact that we changed the rules to implement the rookie league.

We added more feeder league teams to fill rookie league squads and to have more minor league players in general but more importantly, we changed the cut off for draft eligibility from a minimum of 2 years to 3 years. We can no longer add those big potential sophomores after their sophomore year. I think the talent is still there as 8 of the Top 20 pitchers are drafted players 27 and younger. I just don't think the top of the draft is as much of sure thing as in the past.

There is Egocentric, then there is JJ, a complete exacerbation of the word. Please give up your team.

1.23 SP Pearce Hong - Our first, 1st round selection in 3 years. Went in with an idea to at least try to strengthen our minor league depth at pitching. We decided to go with UCLA star, Pearce Hong. Hong was the 2033 NCAA OPA and had another standout year in 2034. There are question marks about how his control will translate at the professional level, but since my scouting staff named him one of two potential BLB ace pitchers (the other being Lucas Coughlin selected by NY at 1.22) I couldn't let him slip any further.
                    Ho
3.23 SP Drew LaRaia - This 17 year old was the best pitcher on the 2034 HS Champion, Shawnee HS Swamp Dogs. He posted an impressive 1.85 ERA in 7 games then proceeded to give up 0 ER in 5 IP in the HS playoffs. He isn't projected by my scout to be able to develop his change up enough to be a reliable starter at the BLB level. However if he progresses as my scout believes he can, he should be a solid option out of the pen with the stamina to give 3-4 innings of relief.

4.23 3B Noah Mandler - Noah is a complete scout pick here. He had a great HS career but not nearly as highly touted as other players who put up similar stats. My scout thinks he has above average plate discipline, power and contact and while OSA doesn't agree, his stats tell a different story.

5.23 Dusty Sullenburger -I was very surprised that Dusty hadn't been scooped up earlier by this point. He won the NCAA GGA at short his sophomore, junior and senior year. A switch hitter, Dusty doesn't seem to have a bat to match his defensive prowess but guys like him always end up finding a way to the league based on the elite defense he can provide. Again, my scout disagrees .
