My system has been lacking in SP prospects for several years, so I was hoping (but not optimistic) that one that I liked would fall to me here. Thankfully, Allen did. My scout and OSA see a solid mid-rotation lefty, possibly better if I get lucky. Good stamina, good personality, durable. Only thing missing is the stats, which are unimpressive. He looks like the best pitching prospect I've had in years.

2.17 - SP Kameron Spinelli - Another player that my scout and OSA agree on, with ratings similar to my #4/5 starters now. Solid, but unspectacular. Decent numbers in high school in a high run-scoring league.

3.17 - SP Joseph Fallah - OSA really likes this guy, my scout sees him as a slightly worse version of Spinelli. He's listed as fragile but hasn't been injured at all in 3 seasons. Three solid seasons, but the strikeouts dried up this season. Has a nickname, so he checks that box unlike the other 2 guys.

I'm happy to get 3 SP that I kind of like, since I seem to miss out on nearly all of the targets I have at that spot in the draft. With any luck, a couple will work out and be legitimate BLB starters.
It seems like OOTP has just forgotten how to develop BLB starters in the last few drafts... There didn't seem to be a single pitcher in this draft that didn't have some minor, or major, warts!

Four picks, four first round picks.

1.1 CF Joey Robertson - The first of our four first rounders. California has never developed a true power threat in the 20 years I've run the Kodiaks. The 17 year old Robertson looks like he has a chance to be that guy. His stats, OSA, and my scout all had him as the #1 overall prospect... And, he could be a gold glove corner outfielder as well.

1.3 SP Harold Valentine - Our scout, stats, and OSA all seem to agree that the 17 year old Valentine could? should? be the #1 pitcher in the draft. Although he only has three pitches, we are hoping he develops into a dominant starter for us.

1.9 Coleman Conway - Someone we debated on picking at #3. If he could field, he ay have gone #1 overall. His stats, OSA, and my scout all believe that the 20 year old is already a mature hitter, that could develop into a middle of the order bat to take over DH when Morla finally retires!

1.21 Wyatt Callihan - We originally targeted Alan Allen with this trade, but a little bit of cold feet led by Kodiak management to the trade for 1.15 falling through at the last minute. We decided to take a chance on the player that our scout believes could be a hall of fame catcher. His stats, ratings, and OSA all seem to believe that he could man the catcher duties for the Kodiaks for the foreseeable future. And as an added bonus, the 17 year old has a 70 catcher ability!

I don't know how the starters are going to look like in 10 years... It's scary, thank God we have IAFAs and IFAs... Otherwise this Draft clases are dreadful.

Yup... The draft sure turns out a lot of releivers... Or, are the draft classes worse, because we have IAFAs and IFAs on... Chicken or egg?!?!

IIRC Rocco and Spence Perry were the first two pitchers taken a few seasons ago and they’re both on trajectories that suggest they’re going to be really good.

That’s good to hear. I’m a little cynical sometimes.

So the draft is top heavy?

I'm sure hoping it is! At least this year!

I pretty sure this is the cause. The game itself will keep the talent pool in check.

I think we've had a lot of great drafted pitchers. You have to remember that it takes a while for these guys to develop.

                          http://www.simgamingnetwork.com/blb/...ft_history.php

Looking back at the draft I just think that pitchers success is much more volatile than in years past.

It was a huge problem (IMO) when we were on 18, but there’s been some solid pitchers at the top of drafts since we’ve moved to 19.
