          Not bad

2-4 sim, but two of those losses were by 1 run to Maine. The pen seems to be slowly getting its act together. Tough extra inning loss to Maine in there, but I'll take winning 2/3 against Denver. Small steps :)

4-2 sim. 2-1 @ DAV. 2-1 @ PHI. I'm very impressed with my squad going 4-2 on the road, with one loss being by a single run in extra-innings.

                The Good
-After I benched Michio Nago a few weeks back, he has really responded. This week he went 11/26, with two doubles, a triple and two stolen bases. He is on pace for 211 hits.
-SP Romano Gonzalez is my team MVP. His quality start percentage is .86 and this week he pitched a gem against Davenport. Seven innings, no runs, four hits, one walk and eight strikeouts.

                The Bad
-After trading Hogan, my fan interest dropped.
-Wilmington also went 4-2 so I didn't gain any ground.

                The Ugly
-This week I host the IL-worst California Kodiaks. We just traded outfielders with one another. Things could get heated.

                A look to the farm
-Slugger Xalbador Ansoategui is in just his second week of Triple-A baseball. He hit 15/31 with six home runs and 14 RBI over a week stretch. In 11 games he has a 13.5 VORP and 1.433 OPS. Yikes.
                Wilmington Wildcats- 2057-
                Seattle Pilots- 2017-2041

                  Virginia Colonials (37-33)

                  4-2

                  2-1 vs California
                  2-1 @ Los Alamos

                  THE GOOD
-- Have to open up by giving major love to Cortez Barrerra. Not only has he been my best pitcher this month, he had a fantastic game this week. On 6/21, he beat Los Alamos 4-2 for his 3rd straight win and 8th on the season. His final line was 8.0 innings, 6 hits, 1 earned run, 4 K's and no BB. But, that's not the best part... he lead off the top of the 6th inning and took a 3-2 pitch from Charlie Lanham 449 feet!!! An absolute BOMB!!

-- My 1984 Bash Brothers (Harcourt & Nelson) are picking up steam. They hit a combined .363 this week with 5 HRs and 10 RBI. That brings them to 15 & 14 on the season... good for 4th and 5th in the IL.

-- Frank Dallyn had his best sim by far. Went 1-0 in 2 starts allowing only 2 runs in 15.2 innings of work. That's 6 straight starts where he's given up 3 earned runs or less. He's pitching much, much better than his record indicates.

                  THE BAD
-- The 5th Starter spot will be the thing that keeps us from contending for the Wildcard. Barrerra was a great option there, but once Oyos went down, so did our season. Bill Lewry got the call-up this week hoping he'd at least keep it closer than Revales had been. Unfrotunately he couldn't even get out of the 4th innings. The team did rally before the 'pen would eventually blow the game, but Lewry was not good.

-- Frank Hamlet managed only 3 hits this week. Easily his worst week as a Colonial.

-- Nate Magness takes his 2nd straight loss despite throwing a game that should have been good enough to beat California. He gave up only 6 hits and 3 earned runs (6K/1BB) before giving way to a bullpen that still can't get anyone out. May have pulled it out if given a chance, but we still have him on a very tight pitch limit.

                  THE UGLY
-- I hate the Stout. It sucks to have a 4-2 that you can't even feel good about because the rest of the division went 11-7. We gained no ground on Wilmington or Washington and picked up only 1 game on Morgantown.

                  -- My Bullpen
                  The Great One!

                  To many rings to count...

                    Indianapolis Clowns 37-34

                    3-3 (again)
                    1-2 vs Maine
                    2-1 @ Pitt

                    The Good
                    - First off, a 3-3 sim versus Maine and Pitt was in line with my highest expectations, but honestly, we could've done better. All the games were really close, and could've gone either way in most cases. I'm really happy with the results though.

                    - Vidal Olbera had two really solid starts this week, throwing 11 innings while giving up 3 runs, 8 hits, and 8 walks while K'ing 9. The walks are high, but he's had control problems this year after missing all of '84.

                    - Anier Tafur continues hitting everything he sees, going .400/.423/.680 this sim. He's been a real surprise this year for us. Not bad for our 19th pick in the expansion draft.

                    The Bad
                    - Eric McCoy saved 3 games, but also picked up the loss in one of the Maine games. I can't really be that upset with him, he's been a stud in the 'pen, but it would've been nice to have gotten that win.

                    The Ugly
                    - This games management of the depth chart. Pete Miller has been exhausted for the last two sims now. I'm shocked that he didn't get injured here this last sim. I had his backup set to start every 2nd game or whatever, but the game only gave him 2 AB's. I'll be benching Pete this sim and starting his backup. Hopefully that works out.

                    - The game did the same thing to Subaru Hiraki. Just off the DL, he still had a couple of games to go before he was ready to go, but I had him in the starting lineup anyway, knowing the game would just sit him and play his backup until he was healthy. He got into 3 games, but as a sub, netting only 4 AB's.

                    Down on the Farm
Double-A: Newly acquired SS Len John won player of the week, hitting .500 with 2 homers and 7 RBI.

Your three games out in the division and the WC and you figure you can't get it done for lack of a 5th starter? Why don't you put in a bid for Theodore? That would nicely trump the moves that Washington and Wilmington made.

Clay needs incentive to "go for it" this year and without a trophy or a cash pot of 25$, what's the point?

This is why I swear by the 7-day lineup. It's still not 100% by any strech, but I feel like I get a much better control over getting guys rest... especially Catchers.

Mostly because it would have cost me too much. Jistic and I talked about McEvoy and his price was more than I would pay. I have no doubt that Theodore's is even higher.

That's the thing. I'm ahead of schedule. I didn't expect to be within 3 games of the wildcard this season, so I can't deviate from my "plan" in terms of prospects to make a run right now, especially when you look at it realistically and see that there are not only multiple teams ahead of me in the race... 3 of them are in my division.

Oh... there will be a trophy... but... that is part of it. There's no incentive to trade guys that in my future plans like Herrerra, Branch and Maeda to make a run right now. Now, if I was a lock to make the post-season, I could probably convince myself, but I can't mortgage the future to maybe make the playoffs. There's no incentive.
