        Thanks Brad!

Big week for the Pilots. Swept NY and took 3/4 from Denver with just a 1-run loss. Seattle is now back on top of the Bock with a 2.5 game lead.

I attribute the recent success with better defense, which facilitated the trade of DH Josh Wright to Wilmington this morning. By moving either my worst OF (Jeffs) or my worst IF (Nakayama) to DH, and playing a versatile defense first player (IF Harris, IF Murata or OF Vitone) in their place has really worked out. The Pilots, who not to long ago had the worst defense in baseball, is now approaching league average. With our park and poor defense, our pitching was taking it's licks.

Two stars of the sim were unheralded players in DH Alec Lyons and SP Joey Johnson. Lyons went 8/22, with three 2B, HR, four RBI and two BB. This is his second stint with the Pilots and was brought in just two months ago as a minor league FA. He can only DH, but he's a switch hitter who throughout his entire playing career (COL, minors and BLB) has hit .293/.781. We have struggled to find a DH vs. LHSP and he played well in his season debut. Johnson I signed for $280k in FA after he posted a 2.42 ERA in 12 Triple-A starts for California last year. He isn't good. When I move him to Triple-A it actually suggests moving him down to Double-A. However, with a great defense behind him and against the right teams he has been really solid. He's now 4-3, 3.76 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 1.3 WAR in 11 starts. This week against a good NY team he went 6.2 IP, 5 H, R, BB, 3 K and won POTG.
