4-2, with series wins over Hartford and Maine. Brings us up to 39-25 and we suddenly have a 10 game lead in the Bock. Still a lot of games left though.
Beating Maine in the last at bat twice was nice. Felt like old times. In the second game we were down 5-2, but won 6-5 on a bases clearing, 3 RBI triple.Last edited by liquidcrash; 12-12-2008, 09:25 PM.Washington Bats, 2013-

We had 12 minor league all-stars, notably AAA C Teagan Cannell, AA 3B Hector Carbajal (who's been out since April), AA OF Joe Esquivel, and AA 2B Keith McCoy (who just got moved up to AAA). Other minor league notes:
A Ball:1st round picks SP Raul Perez and 2B Cristobal Sandoval got off to good starts in their pro careers. Perez went 14 innings over 2 starts with a 2.87 ERA, but struggled with control, walking 10 and only striking out 2. Sandoval hit .320 with 2 doubles and a SB. Other promising starts include 2nd round C Clint Underwood (.333 avg/.820 OPS), 7th round pick Herman Poor (2 HRs, .939 OPS) and most of all 3rd round pick, MR Tajo Hernandez. We gave Hernandez a start to see if he had it in him, and he responded by going 8 innings, giving up only 1 run with a .88 WHIP.
AA Ball:I was pretty close, but I decided against moving Steve Boyd to AAA on cut day. I've left Boyd, now 25, in AA getting him last season and he's responded with his best statistical year since '82, hitting .280 with a 14.6 VORP so far. Nothing special, but I still think Boyd can contribute in some form one day. 1984 7th round pick Curt Bolton has continued to impress in AA after getting the call up from A ball two weeks ago. In 11 games at the higher level Bolton's hit .340 with .937 OPS.
AAA Ball: 2B Keith McCoy is forcing himself into our plans at the BLB level. McCoy, a AA allstar after hitting .362 and putting up a 33.6 VORP in the first half of the season, hit .529 with 3 triples, a HR, and a 1.438 OPS in his first week in AAA. McCoy is decent in the middle infield and has above average speed on the bases. We'll see if he can keep up anything close to that, but if he does, there will be a place for him in Syracuse before long.
2-4 sim, BTW. Now Samarano is out over a month due to a herniated disc. We've now suffered ~31 months of injuries so far, with all of the extended injuries happening to starters and/or featured relievers. It's a miracle that we're even 30-34 as far as I'm concerned.Charlotte Knights - OSFL

I was wondering why no one had commented on the highly touted Magness/Brode matchup so I decided to check it out. 13 hits and 9 earned runs between the two in just 5.2 IP for both. The main difference in the game was that Dallas' bullpen dominated while the Virginia skipper managed to find a reliever who pitched even worse than The Skull.

3-3 sim. Joe Moran locked down three saves, its nice to have somebody in the back of the pen to rely on to shut down the opposition. My team has been playing much, much better as of late despite no offensive production from several players. We took 2/3 against Cali and dropped 2/3 against Philly.
Luis Miguel Gutierrez is going to make his first AAA start during the next sim. I know its ambitious, but I have visions that both he and Gervasio Areas will be ready for BLB by the end of the year. Things are slowly but surely looking up and I'll hopefully have 4 young starters locked up for a long time. I have a good number of relief prospects but most are still very raw so the pen is still a work in progress.Last edited by Spectre; 12-13-2008, 02:58 PM.
