  • Draft "Fuzz"

So it turns out that the feature in the draft utility that "fuzzes" player ratings was removed a few versions ago. Anybody who used autodraft should be happy since the utility used real ratings to draft.

Mahoney is going to help code a new system that actually changes the ratings and hopefully punishes people for using autodraft.

    Oh, that sucks.

    Thanks Mahoney.

Well that explains why my auto drafted 10th round MR is listed as 'Hall of Fame potential' by my scout.

As part of this we have the opportunity to display the fuzzed ratings in the utility. Everyone would see the same ratings. It would be kind of like a 2nd SISA. Is this something people would be interested in or would you rather the fuzzing took place behind the scenes?

I say why not be able to see them, especially since we went from having 6 opinions to 2. Cool idea.

Odd thing is, if team=hartford, it was actually picking from the bottom of the list and not the top. Not sure how that got in there

There's also apparently some code in the game that has if team=Hartford, then W=L

Why couldn't the ratings just be based off SISA?

SISA is random as is and an owner that uses auto-draft would just be more inclined to base their assumptions off SISA anyway.

I'm not in favor of hurting auto-draft owners by having the utility make bad choices. If it's based on SISA, then it's based on what everyone already sees.

Actually, this is a bigger issue now. Scouts are really bothering me at this point. Using a scout, paying the money should be an advantage over SISA. It doesn't even seem that way at all. There's just more randomness in the draft and it's ridiculous.

I'm all for not being exactly sure on a guy, but when opinions differ so much it's just absurd. There's no scout in the world that would look at a guy like BJ Upton and say, "Nah, he's a career minor leaguer." Everyone knew he could play the game. That's not the case in this game.

It's not your fault Andrew. Just venting on the random scouting system.

I think what Andrew was saying was that auto draft this season was based upon actual ratings so the owners who didn't want to put any work into the draft got a big bonus over those that did. That doesn't have anything to do with SISA, which is now OSA BTW.

I agree with the rest of your comment. It is hard to imagine what they were thinking when they made the amatuer scouting into what it is now.

The utility pulls data from the .csv files that are exported from the game. I believe those only contain real ratings which is why the utility can't use SISA.
