Thanks Matt! Love a surprise early sim...

Seattle goes 4-0 at Windy City then 1-2 at Phoenix. Somehow, California is still keeping it interesting by going 8-2 in L10 and five games back in the Bock. SP Alex Dominguez made his 2032 BLB debut by throwing a gem: 7 IP, 2 H, 0 R, BB, 2 K in a 5-0 win against the Roadrunners. He's also the team captain.

We did make one IAFA offer to CF Trejean Harris, but only about 25% above his asking price. Didn't expect to get him but we did think he was the best "two-way" prospect in the class. My scout doesn't like his bat anywhere close to OSA but he does think he can be a legit corner outfielder.

Great signing... In unrelated new, I hear he's filed for a new agent!

We go 5-2 this week in 7 very close games, with three being in extra innings, and four of the wins, we scored in our last at bat!

Finally our 40 game slog is over... I was hoping for 0.500 during a stretch that saw us play those 40 games in 41 days, and somehow, we went 23-17!

In a new development in California, we are #3 in IL in ERA, and #1 in IL starter ERA.

The offence, which is easily shut down, is becoming a concern, but so far the young, cheap pitching staff is holding things together.

Desperate times are leading to some very drastic measures in Denver.

Is a blockbuster trade brewing in the Mile High city?

4-3 for the Bats. Given how we've played on the road this season, I'll take a winning week away from home and be happy with that. The rest of the division seems to be struggling a little bit at the moment, so the division lead has grown to 6 games.

I fired my manager before last sim, so we're 10-3 under the new guy, Manny Ochoa. He used to pitch here (and a few other places) a little earlier in my reign as Bats GM. He's got a more easy-going personality than my last manager, and the relationships tab suggests he'll get along better with my players. It just wasn't clicking for us this season, so I made a move. So far, it's been better, particularly at the plate. If my lineup can start to hit more like they did last year, I think we'll be in good shape for the division race.

In the rotation, we're still just piecing it together. I thought the back of the rotation might be a sore spot for us, and that's been made worse with Theisen out all season and Van Westen missing time recently. Hopefully I'll get the whole rotation together at some point this season.

                    Year of the Bats!

liquidcrash In all seriousness, I love your weekly wrap ups. Wish other teams would do the same.

Blockbuster? Nah. I'm not moving the guys that are actually producing and I don't have the resources to acquire anyone to actually help push us over the top.

But we have recently gone to a four-man rotation. Results have been good so I have no reason to change it. The fifth starter was killing us. I rather have Shuai and Jong at 80% than a fifth starter playing like absolute trash. Somehow, the four-man rotation has made all of my starters better too. We've been doing it for 3 or 4 sims. Team ERA keeps going down.

And now we are making very drastic lineup changes. So drastic, I called up a bench player from AA to play an important role in the everyday lineup. Nieto is DFAed. I don't expect anyone will pick him up, but I'll have some time to decide what I want to do with him. O'Hearn is gone for four weeks so I have no choice but to get creative.

I'm just hoping creativity leads to success. We are a half game back so it's not like we are out of the race, but I think a few tweaks and a run can get us in a comfortable place. I need our chemistry back up to inspire these guys.

I like it! Facing Middaugh in the leadoff spot was a pain... He seemed to come up every inning!

That IL wild card race may have five teams in it until the final week... It's crazy!
