Eventually you'll just need to spend over the top on one guy to crack the ice. Just how it goes.

Pawtucket signs an OF Beundia who had a decent WAR last season and SP Samuel Norris. Samuel is a former top prospect of Pawtucket, junkballer who I hope can manage the back end of the rotation. Pretty sure he can't fare any worse then BJ Smith last season.

Were still competing for a few more players right now, but overall its about the draft coming out that will define this team in the future. For now we compete the best we can.

        DL Champions 91, 03, 04, 10, 13, 14**,16,17
        Ale Champions 92, 93, 94, 02, 03, 04, 10, 11, 13, 14**, 16, 17, 18
        Wildcard 91, 95, 12

You will enjoy Buendia, he has been a good servant flr the Sharks. We will miss his power against RHP

We didn't sign anyone. To be fair, I didn't offer any contracts either.

The odds of the contract becoming franchise-crippling and/or untradable are not worth it. It ain’t on me that other people don’t recognize that when calculating the cost/benefit. Not going to deviate from my sensibilities because of recklessness of others.

I think what Funclown meant was exactly what you are saying. To land the big fish in FA, you usually have to take a big risk. It’s why a lot of teams, like you stated, aren’t going to be reckless.

For every big FA success story, there is another that went horribly wrong.

Guaranteeing tons of years/money to an IFA that we have never seen play in a game or a BLB veteran who is past their prime is really risky.

Agree on the BLB vet 100%. IFA guys , the elite ones are usually needle movers. We've seen this time and time again.

That being said the past seasons crop of IFA were not needle movers. Some decent sure, but nothing worth breaking the bank on.

Not disagreeing with you. Simply stating if your want to make a "splash" it usually involves a over the top contract offer. Not saying its the right thing to do.

There have been some IFA misses that looked like studs. William Davidson off the top of my head.

Can say the same for top 5 draft pick especially the past decade. Just noticed when an IFA hits, it can change the balance of the league in a hurry.

Did it with Nieto. Thankfully my team was still bad or else I wouldn’t have traded him.
