Not a good start to the Free-Agent period for Seattle....

I decided to not offer Robby Caddel's $7M arbitration (estimate) only to be shocked at how low his demand was in FA. I then offered a three-year, $12M deal. Thought for sure I would blowout any other offer....only to find he signs with Los Angeles for just $700k. Strange. Maybe he was upset we let him walk? But he didn't say anything during negotiations. Good signing Nemesis . He's a bargain at that price.

My main offer however was for the IFA SP Frederick Wilson out of Mexico. He elected to sign a 7-year, $102M guaranteed deal with New Orleans instead of my 3-year (2nd year player opt out) deal for $70M. I was a bit worried about his third and fourth pitches being subpar, but I think he could be really good. My scout thinks he's an ace. CujoMatty also scooped up SP Enrique Bernardi, who would have been my backup SP plan had he still be available.

With those two offers out there, I was unable to offer much more guaranteed money to other free-agents. But I was really big on Puerto Rican IFA that Indy got in Konner Najar. My scout likes his bat better than OSA but what's most impressive is his defense. With time, I believe he can get 2B-3B-SS-LF-CF-RF to be 60 or better. Well done JJLinn The other FA I would have tried to scoop up had he still been around was RP I-po Chai. I wasn't going to pay $15M in his arbitration but I would have definitely paid for the deal Matt has him on.

So, who did Seattle get? We signed IFA OF Tyrone "Dizzy" Annear out of Australia. He's on a BLB minimum but my scout likes his bat and his glove better than OSA and he will compete in ST for a roster spot.

      A bunch of good signings!

California signed nine minor league free agents to shore up our minor league system... Basically a bunch of solid AA and AAA players to hopefully help build some winning culture as our young guys progress!
