The Great One!
To many rings to count...

Ruben Sanchez is on his way. He had a good season in AAA, but he started to falter towards the end. I was on the fence on this one for a while, but I need some production out of the DH spot. Pass's production makes me wish I was in the girls league.

Oh, not sure if his pick will show up or not. We'll see.

C Hector Gonzalez, 21 year old, #3 BLB Prospect is getting the call up. He played only about 1/3 of the season in AAA this year but posted an .838 OPS. With Stiver getting older and older, this is his audition for the job for next year. Hopefully he'll be good.

C Teagan Cannell
Teagan is one of my favorite guys on the farm. The dude just hits. Career batting averages in the minors: .328, .388, .366, .336, .319. Hit .350 just about all season before becoming unhappy with his role in the minors. Hopefully getting the call up will get him hitting again.
Anything outside of death in this last month will lead to at least a platoon role with fellow youngster C Mark Jerome in '86.Charlotte Knights - OSFL

SP Clarence Nicholson
Nicholson needs to be good or I'll be on the wrong end of the worst trade in BLB history. I acquired Nicholson in 1983 along with some other trash in exchange for the cost controlled duo of G. Tibaldi and J. Cuevas. Oh yeah, and a 1st round pick. Nicholson took a OOTP 8 ratings hit from 5-6-5 to 4-5-4, where he sits today. But, in 85, he's started 26 games in AAA with a 3.35 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP. Solid numbers. His audition for 1986 starts tonight.Charlotte Knights - OSFL

3 Debuts tonight.
The first,
Tynan Cutter - OF
Cutter came over from Syracuse in a deadline deal. Currently he's rated as teh 86th best prospect in baseball. Since coming to our AAA Des Plaines affliate he's only played 20 games, but posted gaudy .422 Avg and 1.125 OPS. He also snagged a AAA POTW award. We thought we'd try him in AAA as he hadn't gone past AA with his former team and he responded. He told us that he pissed in AAA and played like it. So, we'll give the kid a month to see what the bigs are like against my better judgement.
Second.
Naruhiko Okumura - SP
Okumura is a flat out disappointment. He's 27 and a former 1st round pick that just never responded. He's posted a respectable 3.31ERA in AAA, but my scout thinks he sucks, and I agree. But his expiration date is fast approaching and with nothing to play for we'll give him one look before he's shipped back to Japan.
Third
Clarence Wetton - IF
This gets an asterisk *<------------see right there. Wetton is currently rated as the 58th best prospect in baseball. He did play in the big leagues earlier in the season and was flat overmatched. We didn't want to ruin the kids confidence so we double dropped him to AA. Since then he's responded. Back up to AAA Wetton was on fire. Batting .306 with a .946OPS and 8 HR in 33 games. We'll let him tell us if he's ready by letting him play every day for the last month.WINDY CITY PLAYBOYS

Cutter continued his hot streak, playing all 7 games he hit .393, .950 OPS, 5 RBI, so far so good.
Wetton, also played well. Also playing all 7 games he hit .321, .773 OPS, 5 runs scored. Good week for Wetton.
Okumura sucked as expected. 2.2ip, 2h, 2er. Not enough of a sample. I think we'll let him start one.WINDY CITY PLAYBOYS

SP- Victoro Díaz
Díaz, the 37th rated prospect in the BLB made his debut with two starts this past week. He did not fare as well as I had hoped. For the week he went 1-0, 5.25ERA, 7BB, 4K's, 2.08 WHIP.
I'm hoping he'll fair better next week.California Kodiaks - GM - 1982-2013

20-year old Raul Martinez from El Salvador is a kid we took a chance on and he has responded at every level. For some reason, offensively, my scout doesn't think he's worth a pile of crap but Raul continues to prove him wrong. He's a defensive specialist in right, though. So far in ML action during the month of September, Martinez has hit:
.340, 2 doubles, 2 HR, 6 RBI and this is mainly out of the lead-off position. I have come to learn that is very tough for players to maintain this kind of production over the long haul, but his performance is a pleasant surprise.Last edited by Delandis; 01-16-2009, 02:07 PM.
