I guess, it could have been worse?

Seattle goes 11-7 in ST2 (17-13 overall, tied for 5th-best Spring Record). 1B Robby Caddell looks fully recovered from his SEI after hitting .365/1.219. IFA import SP Pang "Freeze" Shuai went 3-0, 1.40 ERA, .93 WHIP with a 9.8 K/9. Rookie catcher Dusty Reger played his way onto an Opening Day roster spot, and might have made a case to start (.314/.870).

Now for the bad news. RP Pat Reeves had not one, not two but three injuries over the span of 10 days in ST1. Got an email to say he's had a setback on recovery and his return changed from 3-4 weeks to unknown. Not a huge loss, as he was scheduled to be MR2. Then we got the CL Ian McManus news. The 5th best closer in baseball had a career ending injury. I forget, what's the rule on this? Even if it's just a 12 month return, his days in Seattle could be over. He's fragile and probably will be wrecked after this latest. The former 1st round pick has been outstanding, when on the field. Then swiss-army-knife Robby Goss broke his damn ankle. Last year, as a mid season call up, Goss played games at 2B, 3B, SS, LF, CF, 1B with a 2.6 WAR and 129 OPS+ in 90 games. He will miss three months.

Losing three players you had planned on making the Opening Day roster is tough.

Pawtucket lost on 2B Lewis just barely. We go with plan B. We project to have a 132 budget next season and finally in the black. Gonna just stay patient.

No injuries, 81 wins predicted. See if we can sneak 4-5 games out to eek us into the playoffs. Hope is not lost.

Another relief pitcher goes down as we lost our Wood for a couple weeks. Having both Johnson and Wood go down before we even get started is rough, but these things happen. Our bullpen will just be a little short for a while.

It wasn't a great ST for us, but hopefully the rest of the team can shake off the rust as we get going. We've still got a lot of budget room available to make an addition or even take on a salary dump if someone's got one. I think we can still be pretty good even if there weren't any major additions to the team this offseason. The young guys are just going to have to play a bit better than last season.

Wish I had cash to throw at Rosaro. Think I’m going with an “opener” in my 5 spot this year and he’d be ideal.

Career ending should be career ending. Not that he retired to play Soccer...

The rule is career ending injury is turned into a one-year injury if the owner wants the player back.

It's normally a kiss of death anyways. Those type of injuries that trigger a career end use make the player wrecked and take a big ratings hit.

McManus is headed to arbitration #2. He will likely be a FA, wrecked, with six months go on his injury return. Have at him.

Denver finished spring 20-10. 9-9 in the back half.

Good strong performances all across the board. Jonathan Mason looked really good. Clarkson fell down to earth but he's such a good defender so he has a job.

We lose DeGennaro. Two more weeks so it should not be too bad.

Also lost Tommy Wood but Dave Lange should be a strong defensive replacement.

Healey learned first base really fast and might have lengthened his career by doing so. Hoping this helps him stay healthy for the first time in two years.

We open with games on the road against Cali and Baltimore. Let's go!

I don't like it, I kind of get the playing Soccer bit, but the career injury thing should stay as called...

We used to have CEI's. The rule was if the owner wanted the player revived the injury would be turned into the length of the max injury time per the injury.txt file we use. Then we were able to edit them out. Then either this version of OOTP or last injuries got a lot more complicated in game and CEI's came back.

The file lists Torn Labrum from 120-360 days...so the injury would be turned into 360 days if you would want.

For story line issues we had like players leaving to golf we turned that into an automatic one year.

To be quite frank, shark, it's been this way for years. I don't understand why you're trying to use your opinion on a rule that's been set far longer than you've been here.

                        It's how it is.

Is this not a free opinion forum then? Do I have to ask for your permission to post something from now on?

No Christmas fighting. That's reserved for the off-season and we're into Spring Training.

And I think it's more the delivery than the message.

"Career ending should be career ending. Not that he retired to play Soccer..."
"I don't like it, I kind of get the playing Soccer bit, but the career injury thing should stay as called..."

If you are against it fine. Just write up a proposal for league vote to turn CEI's back on. Like I said we had them edited out for years, then the new version of OOTP put them back in. We therefore revert back to rules we had to use years ago. No one likes CEI's. Yes they are part of real life but the majority of people don't like them in the text SIM world.

(It actually looks like Andrew edited them out in the 1987 season.)
